In reply to the message below: I have a Bryant Wooten in Hanover county. He married Alifair Screws. He is the son of Joshua Wooten and Keziah "Kizzie" Powers. Joshua is the son of William Wooten and Ann Bryant. I also have a Bryant Wooten in my line, but he was living in GA at the time of this bond. He is the son of Joel Wooten, who is the brother of Joshua Wooten and the son of William Wooten and Ann Bryant. The Bryant, who I suspect is the one in the bond cited below, was born between 1788 and 1799 in Edgecombe Co., NC and died in 1856 in Hanover Co., NC. I am interested in other input into this family. Then seemingly unrelated entry: "Ordered that Bryant Wooten enter into bond for $400 for the maintenance of a bastard male child begotten on the body of Tela Casteen and for idemnifying the parish, etc., with Samuel James and Benjamin Rochelle as securities, and that he pay unto the hands of Tela Casteen, the mother of said bastard child, 20 pounds annually for three years".
