    2. I visited Joyner Library about 4 years ago and looked through the Richard Wooton collection. At that time it was all quarterlies and special studies. I spent a whole day browsing through the material and did not have enough time to view all of it. It was very interesting. Velma Brakel >

    3. Wooten List: I received the information below by e-mail quite a while ago and had planned to go to the library to look through the materials. I am pretty sure that Richard had some Gallia County, Oh. and Surry County N.N.Wooten information that I have never seen. I am stll trying to connect the Wootens from the two counties. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Wooten and Related Families Association" Richard Wooton's collection of Wooten genealogy and WARFA materials was donated to the Special Collections at the Joyner Library at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. The Joyner Library is on-line, but the catalog of the Special Collections is not. I understand the collection contains all his books, newsletters, photographs of tombstones and properties, etc. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I e-mailed the library and was told that they only have the quarterlies and the special studies; no other documents. Has anyone been to the library and looked at the collection? I hesitate to travel from Washington State to North Carolina for only quarterlies and Special Studies. W. Paul Wooten

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Wooten>Bass Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/mRXBAIB/853.3.1.1 Message Board Post: Aaron Bass and Malinda Wooten were married in Surry County in 1820. Aaron is listed as a miller in the 1850 Surry County census. They lived in the Silaom district. Sometime around 1854-55 they moved to Hawkins County, TN. Several children had already married and remained in NC. Their daughter, Lucinda, married an Isaac Wooten in 1855 in Hawkins County.(perhaps a cousin?) Both Aaron and Malinda apparently died in Hawkins County, TN. They are both listed in the 1870 census, but only Malinda appears in the 1880 census. I have heard that Malinda was an indentured servant with the Bass family. The story says that Aaron fell in love with her, paid the indenture, and married her. But for this I have no proof. Thanks for any help. Linda

Since I saw your post recently, I have been searching my WARFA materials, but haven't found Malinda or Aaron yet. Please e-mail me and tell me what you know about Malinda. 1. JANE WOOTEN - 1831-1900 - OH>IN>IA>OR
    2. Karol Gale
    3. Greetings Listers! I have just re-joined this list after a long absence. It is time for me to resume my search of my great great grandmother,,,JANE NETTA WOOTEN. She was born somewhere in OHIO 12 Oct 1831. Parents are unknown. I am searching for her parents names.....census records on Jane say her parents were born in VA. Jane married on 22 Jul 1850 at SOUTH BEND, ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, INDIANA, to ANANIAS WILSON. I have searched the 1850 census records, but have not found either Jane or Ananias on the census, either before or after their marriage. (I say they must have been on their honeymoon and just missed the census taker!! grin) Without their parents' names, it is impossible to know who to look for. In 1863, Jane is residing in HARRISON, KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, INDIANA, with three sons, JAMES S. WILSON - B 13 JUL 1851, GEORGE WORTH WILSON, B 10 FEB 1855 and SYLVESTER WILSON, B 21 JUN 1857. It is possible she was with or near family members, possibly her Wooten parents??? (Ananias died in the Civil War in 1862) Any suggestions or assistance or clues for finding this information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,,, Karol Wilson Gale kgale@jps.net California
