I question whether this is valid, since I also found on this website a statement that McElvy was born in Eugene Oregon in 1827; this I am sure is not true since Eugene, Oregon didn't exist in 1827!

In the 1870 Darke co OH census, I find John Henry Dinkins and his family(came from NC) but he did not show up again on a census that I know of. Today I found his wife and children on the 1880 census for Henry co, IN. in Liberty twp. Since he was not listed, I can only conclude that he died sometime between 1870-1880. Thank you again. Every little bit helps.

She is listed on the NC 1850 census as living with (John) Henry Dinkins and Elisabeth (Adams) Dinkins. I am trying to find JHs parents because his daughter, Rebecca, was my ggreat grandmother. Any info could be helpful and appreciated. Thanks Jennifer Nipp-Swim
