Friends and Family, We now have over 115 WOOTEN researchers in our group at Roots Web. New members may want to visit several of the web sites of our WOOTEN researchers. Would each of you, with a genealogy related site, please post the URL for your site? Valuable information can be found at each of these sites. All members of our list or digest groups are encouraged to post their family links on the list/digest at Roots Web. If you are new to using the list, send your information to me and I will gladly post it for you. We also have a fellow WOOTTON researcher in England, who has joined our group. I do not want to post his e-mail without his permission, but will be glad to forward an initial message to him. I have had several inquiries about THOMAS BOX WOOTEN. Would someone with detailed information on this family please post the information on the list? Others are seeking information on the family prior to THOMAS WATTON/WOOTEN, Isle of Wight, VA. Please post information on his ancestors, the COUNCIL family, or other related ancestors. Thanks for all the positive messages about my preliminary exams for the doctorate degree. I did survive the three days of written essay exams. The future holds a defense of these exams and completion of the dissertation, then I will be finished and ready for a new adventure. Just found a gem of a little book called HISTORY IN CATOOSA CO. BY William Henry Harrison Clark, DVM, MPH, Major, US Army, 1972. (If anyone has ANY families in Walker, Catoosa or Whitfield Co., check it out. His descriptions are priceless.) Page 78: John D. Wooten and Frank Webb, in 1848, and for a year or two after, sold liquor at Ringgold. Wooten's wife was a sister of Webb. Thomas B. and Charles L. Wootten sold liquor at Ringgold in 1848 and for some time after. In 1849, Charles L. Wootten purchased the livery stable, or built it, near the Depot. In 1853 he bought out Felker's saloon. Following are some WOOTEN extractions from "The Georgia Black Book;By Robt. Hello everyone, I am hoping somebody can help me tie some information into my Wooten line. I have a copy of the Freestone Frontiers. In it is an article titled "Thomas Timothy Wooten Bible". I will type it verbatim at the end of this message. 1. I would like to know how or if this family ties into the William Jordan Wooten family. He came to TX after the Civil War with his brother and grandmother, Jincy Lee Wooten. I found them on the 1880 Burnet Co., TX Census. They were on the same farm as his uncle, Jincy's son. He married Sarah Ann Meek in 1882. 2. I would like to know how or if this Freestone Co, TX family ties into the GA Wootens. 3. I would love to correspond with any descendants of Simon Lee Wooten from Kimble Co., TX, William Jordan Wooten (went by Jordan) from Navarro Co., TX, John Wooten found on the 1880 Burnet Co., TX census. I am willing to share what I have with them. I really appreciate any help I can get solving this puzzle. I have roots in Freestone Co., TX. This may be tied to my side of the family also. I have found Wootens on the Freestone Co. Census. The Wooten family is my husband's line. Joan Cockerell Wooten THOMAS TIMOTHY WOOTEN BIBLE Thomas Timothy Wooten born 3 June 1832, Perry, Houston Co. I'm looking for information on Abraham J. Wooten who was the son of Littleton and Theresa Wooten. Abraham was born about 1854 in OH. He married Mary Mae Wallis in 1879 at Gallia Co OH. They had one daughter, Mary Wooten born May, 1880 who only lived until Jan, 1881. It appears that the mother, Mary Mae, must have died during childbirth since her death date and her childs birth date are very close. Abraham remarries in 1856 to Ollie E. Gaskins. Have many blanks to fill in. E-mail Kathy <[email protected]>
