    1. Martha Wooten Solomon
    2. Hello everyone, If you are wondering why you haven't heard anything from Martha Wooten Solomon, I have been given permission to let you know why. She became very ill while in Fredericksburg, TX for the cemetery dedication in Junction. She was admitted to the hospital and stayed for about a week. She flew home to Florida and was admitted to the hospital there. She will be there until the middle of this coming week. I talked to her husband this morning. He said he can see the improvement every time he sees her. I was relieved. I was really worried about her. I will try and keep you posted on her recovery. She has asked that this be posted on the Solomon-L list. I do not subscribe. Would someone please send this on to that list also. I would really appreciate it. Let's keep her in our prayers. Joan Wooten

    3. Dear Kathy and other Wooten researchers: Thanks so much for Mournin's date of death. Each little tidbit of knowledge that I receive is appreciated. As a matter of fact, I do have a question. Although not fully documented, there was a Barron Wooten (born 18220*25) thought to be the son of William J. Wooten (Alabama) and his wife Susannah. However, nothing is known about his fate. In the 1880 Dekalb County, AL census there are two children living alone: Barron Wooten (17), and Jerusa/Jeramur Wooten (14), both males. I have often wondered who this sad little duo belongs to. Could they belong to the family of Jerusa and Eli? I have not found their names in the Dekalb County marriages that I have searched--unless, of course, they used initials. -- Sharleen Johnson Rhinock Ooltewah (a suburb of Chattanooga) TN [email protected]

    3. Fellow Wootten Researchers, A new site which reveals a number of Wootten/Wooten names is found in the Bureau of Land Management-Eastern States, General Land Office site. I only had time to check out Alabama and Arkansas but AL had a good group of Wootten names and AR a few Woottens. Other states included in the Eastern States are Florida, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin. This site is located at http://www.glorecords.blm.gov Good Luck!

    2. Hi Sharleen, Was most interested in your note. We're looking for a Pollie Wooten who married John Edwards in Jan. 1804 - place unknown, and later lived in Elbert Co., Ga. Could she be a dau of this family? Any help will be most appreciated. Thanks so much. Ardie In a message dated 98-07-24 10:40:07 EDT, you write: << Subj: Wootens Dear Martha and other Wooten researchers: As I was working on some Georgia reference materials, I noticed that Mourning (wife of Hardy) is listed in the on-line lineage chart as having died before 1814. That doesnt seem to jive with the census data. These notations came from the printed index, I have not yet looked on the actual microfilm to see the age of those in the household. 1. Historical Marker Wooten Cemetery
    2. Hi, This is what the historical marker says. Joni Wooten Wooten Cemetery Typical of burial sites chosen by early Texas pioneers, Wooten Cemetery was established by April 1880 when one-year-old Cornelius Clay Jackson was buried. His headstone is the earliest grave marker in the cemetery. His mother, P. Jane Jackson died in 1881 and is interred nearby. Other notable graves include a family group believed to be tuberculosis victims. the plot of the Allsup family is also prominent, as is the grave of Civil War veteran Simon Lee Wooten (1830-1896), for whom the cemetery is named, who came to Texas from Georgia upon the death of the Old South.
