Phyllis Benedict > Phyllis, Following is all that I have on Thomas Woolsey - I've included Wilford's notes and giving him credit for additions and corrections. PLEASE WILFORD if you are out there and see that this information is incorrect let us know so that I'm not passing on bad information. Thanks Descendants of Thomas Woolsey Generation No. 1 1. THOMAS15 WOOLSEY (JOHN IV14, JOHN III13, JOHN II12, JOHN11, GEORGE JORIS10, GEORGE SR9, WILLIAM8 WOLSEY, JOHN7, THOMAS6, ROBERT5, ROBERT4, JOHN3, WILLIAM2, JOHN1) was born 1793 in Robertson, Tennessee, and died Unknown in Hempstead County, Arkansas. He married (1) 64A4-2 REBECCA. She was born 1810 in Ohio, and died Unknown. He married (2) MILLEY. From: Wilford Whitaker In the past there was quite a bit of confusion over Thomas Woolsey, the Indian scout and frontiersman and then Thomas Woolsey and wife Joanna __________. Now Mattie Logsdon and Marjorie Young have put the two together and state that Thomas and Joanna died in Hempstead Co., Ark. Now I have a problem: There is an older Thomas who is obtaining Spanish Land grants in 1811, living in Missouri early, and generally upsetting the apple cart because I can't place him. I propose this solution for reasons I hope I can make clear. Instead of being the two brothers John who md Mary Gilbert and Thomas who went into Hempstead co, it was father and son, John Woolsey who md Mary Gilbert and his son Thomas, b abt 1785. I have Joanna b 1782 which would be too late for a 1790 marriage. Is it possible that it could be John Woolsey and his son Thomas who are making the land transactions together. That would leave Thomas Woolsey b 1 May 1765, to wander back and forth into people's lives and hunt up colts, and travel to Missouri and fit in where I would like to put him. Just a thought. I have Joanna as b. 1782. Where did you get her maiden name. This is the first time I have seen that. A great find for someone. _______ Children of THOMAS WOOLSEY and REBECCA are: 2. i.
