Notes that I have from James Edward Woolsey state that Sanford was buried in the Woolsey Cemetery, Woolsey Valley, Edmondson County, KY. James wrote: "It is my understanding the only tombstone still standing is Sanford's. The others have disappeared. I have not visited that cemetery. The cemetery is located in the Mammouth Cave National Park. This if from the notes of Hascal Woolsey."
