To Edith Pimentel and interested Woolsey researchers: James Woolsey is not a common Woolsey name, but I do have several early James, all from New York. There is also an early James WOOSLEY, wife Elizabeth, born in Virginia, but is of a different family. 1. James Woolsey b abt 1766 of Marlborough, Ulster, New York, s/o Rev Henry Woolsey & Abigail Woolsey/Wright - may have md Abigail Higgins and had a son John P. Woolsey. 2. James Woolsey b abt 1772, Hillsdale Town, Columbia Co., NY s/o Rev Richard Woolsey and Ann Fuller. Nothing further. "went South" 3. James Woolsey b 1798, d 1876 - s/o Josiah Woolsey & Abigail Lyon. All in New York. 4. James Woolsey b 1787, NY, s/o Daniel Woolsey & Ann Halstead. 5. James Woolsey b 1776, NY, d 1857, Newburgh, Orange, NY, s/o William Woolsey & Abigail Northrup, md 1799 Abigail Lockwood. 13 Children, all b NY 6. James Woolsey - 1811 - in Lincoln Co., KY 7. James Lloyd Woolsey b 1788 of Plattsburg, Clinton Co., NY s/o Melancthon Lloyd Woolsey & Alida Livingston. md Roxanna Ackerman. 10 children, all in NY. 8. James Woolsey, 1830 Washington Co., MO census, b 1780-1790 Also here is Thomas Woolsey, b 1790-1800. Thomas Woolsey was an early settler of Missouri (bef 1812). 9. James Woolsey, jury duty 1821 in Lawrence Co., TN with Samuel Woolsey and Daniel Woolsey. 10. James Woolsey, War of 1812 - Col. McNair's command, in Missouri Militia, and Lt. James Woolsey, Col Ashley's command, Mounted Missouri Militia. 11. J. (ames) Woolsey, b 1776, NY or NC, in 1850 census of Crawford Co., Missouri. It's possible that the KY, TN & MO James Woolseys are one and the same. Any suggestions and additions would be greatly appreciated. Wilford W. Whitaker
