    3. I too descend from Peter BLOOM & Rachel MATHENY who are the original St. Geneieve Co., Mo. settlers. Though it does remain possible Peter had more than one wife.. Peter BLOOM b. bef 1772 d, bet. 1835-1842 Saline, St. Geneiveve Co., Missouri m. 28 Sept 1790 Hardin Co., Kentucky to Rachel MATHENY d/o Daniel MATHENY & Isabella COPAS (couple of Shenandoah Co., VIrginia) The Peter you list is actually Peter Jr. He died after 1860. This is verified because I have the Acts of Congress that were passed allowing Peter BLOOM & the BURTCHER brother to keep the land in Missouri upon which they had settled. Their original land grants came from the Intendant of New Orleans and were granted when Missouri was known as Upper Louisiana and still under the control of the french. It is very hard to get a better source than the Congressional Record. Peter BLOOM Sr. was "unlearned & Illiterate" but had superior stone mason skills highly valued in Missouri in the first couple decades of the 1800s. But I would love to trade notes on this BLOOM family. I descend from Peter & Rachel's daughter Elizabeth who married Daniel WOOLFORD. james wall My wife is descended from Peter Bloom who was born about 1787 in Maryland. He moved with his sister Elizabeth to the Ste. Genevieve, MO area in 1797. Elizabeth (born about 1770) was married to Bartholomew Burtcher in Baltimore in 1795. (For a great web site on the "colorful" Burtcher family which has some information on Peter Bloom, see http://www.burtcher.com.) However, I can find absolutely no information on Peter/Elizabeth Bloom's parents. It is certain that the parents did not come to Missouri as Peter and Elizabeth were the first Blooms in MO. I have read through the posts in this forum and believe they may be descendents of Johann Peter Bloom from Germany. Any thoughts/information appreciated.
