    3. Hi, I am looking for a Harold Scrivens who posted a request for information on Sam Woolford back in May 1999. I found it yesterday in the archives. Sam was my great granddad and apparently was appointed guardian to Harold’s father when he was orphaned at 12 weeks old. Harold’s e-mail address no longer works but I might information for him regarding his dad. If anyone has any suggestions please contact me. Linda

    2. Please don't post virus hoxes to the list. Go to Symantec's site: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/hoax.html Scroll down until you find SULFNBK.EXE Warning If you have deleted the file, Symantec tells you how to reinstall. People on other lists have gone through the agony of reinstalling. Maggie

    3. Everyone, I check and I found this virus on my computer, so as you are all in my address book I ask that you do the same and check your own computers. Better safe than sorry!!!!!! Subject: FW: MY VIRUS ALERT - DO NOT DISREGARD This is a virus that is spread from address book to address book. It is apparently undetectable by Norton and McAfee. It remains dormant for about 14 days then activates and wipes out the hard drive data. The directions for removing it are easy. 1. Go to 'start' - then to 'find or search' (depending on your computer) 2. In the 'search for files or folders' type in sulfnbk.exe -- this is the virus. 3. In the 'look in' make sure you're searching Drive C. 4. Hit 'search' button (or find) 5. If this file shows up (it's an ugly blackish icon that will have the name 'sulfnbk.exe') DO NOT OPEN IT 6. Right click on the file - go down to delete and left click. 7. It will ask you if you want to send it to the recycle bin, say yes. 8. Go to your desktop (where all your icons are) and double click on the recycle bin. 9. Right click on sulfnbk.exe and delete again - or empty the bin. If you find it, send this email to all in your address book, because that's how it's transferred.

    3. Hi Woolford list, Was discussing WOOLFORDs with my Aunt who is not on line but is into genealogy. There are name similarities between my DANIEL WOOLFORD family of Missouri and WOOLFORDs who were in the Shenandoah Valley in the late 1700s early 1800s. Anyone out there know of WOOLFORDS who originated or came out of the Shenandoah Valley early 1800s or late 1700s? They may well have travelled from Pennsylvania to the Shenandoah Valley and then migrated west.. I have seen alot of discussion of Pennsylvania WOLFORD/WOOLFORD on this list. Don't recall discussion of Shananoah Valley WOOLFORDs however. Any help appreciated. james wall

    3. Hi, I am new to the list and wanted to introduce myself. I am tracing the family tree for my daughters and thus have to trace my husband's side as well!! I have just started on this and today received an Australian death certificate which has given me a few leads. I am hoping that someone may recognise some names/places and be able to offer some assistance or advise - fingers crossed, I may even find a relative or 2!!!! The information I have is...... Charles William John FOX Born about 1861 in St Albans, Hertfordshire, England Parents: Christopher FOX and Harriet WOOLFORD Charles William John FOX was a master painter and his father Christopher was a Journeyman Carpenter. Charles William John FOX married Ellen MORRIS at St Albans, Hertfordshire about 1881. Charles William John FOX and his wife Ellen migrated to Australia about 1884. In 1885 or 1887(date varies depending on his father's death certificate or his own marriage certificate), when his son Charles Edward was born, he lived in Townsville, Queensland, Australia. Charles and Ellen had 4 children in total - Charles Edward, Albert John, Beatrice Ellen and one female (deceased at time of Charles W J FOX's death). I look forward to hearing from anyone who may know any of these people. Regards, Nicki

    2. Michael, I just reread your GGGparent's birth certificate. Nothing of note to add but wonder if Beneral Rute might nit be General Rute? I ask this since I know that the Wolfords were connected with military people throughout history. In Williamsburg,Va. they told mr that a Col. Wolford was named as one of Gen. .George Washington's favorite officers. As a matter of fact, Gen. Sumpter and Col. Wolford attacked Lord Cornwallis at Camden N.C. and captured 360 men and 40 wagons of supplies.(they got wacked later by Cornwallis's Cavalry later in the Rev. War). Max Wolford Mickey

    2. I know of a george Wolford, Orphan of a Civil War Soldier who was killed. Geo. was sent to an Orphan's School by his appointed guardian. George came from a long line of English Wolfords(Woolfords) and would not have spelled his name Wolfort.. I have records of his school costs paid by John Hammer of Somerset Co in 1660's. Geo's tuition came from the estates of Emmanuel and Conrad Wolford, both of whom I believe were killed in the Civil war. I'm interested in the Wolford Family reunion. When and where? 3. Looking for any records on Matilda WOLFORD/NELSON/NEWGARD. She's also known as Tillie. The area I want to place her in is Blue Earth, Faribault, MN about May-1975 or prior to that. That is the month and year I was told she passed away. There were several children, all born to Tillie when she was married to Nels John NELSON. Raymond, George, Erick, Grace, Dorothy, Elsie, John and Arthur. I've also been told that Dorothy had a stillborn twin. Any information about where she was buried (cemetery), census appearances, etc will be greatly appreciated. She would have died as Matilda "Tillie" NEWGARD. Lorraine

There's just too much of a cooincidence for our two lines NOT to be related. Why would two Wolford families settle in Tipton County? Martin and Sally Wolford left West Viginia and --according to the order of their children's birth--moved to Ohio, Illinois and finally Indiana. A newspaper article, in the early 1900s about the reunion of the Wolford-Wimer family (Martin's daughter, Julia, married William Wimer in Tipton), interviewed the granddaughter or great grand-daughter of Martin and said the family lived in Missouri, Illinois and Indiana. Only flaw in this is one of Martin's sons said in his Civil War record he was born in Ohio. I haven't been able to prove or disprove this. Here's John's children and grandchildren from WV. 1. Janine, As you can see, there are some similar names between your lines and mine...John, Asa, Elizabeth and Margaret (a marry-in). I am just wondering if your line is relation to Jacob...? I don't have proof when or where Jacob moved. I collected that tidbit from a county history book written in the 1970s/1980s, and I heard through the grapevine that one of the writers met an untimely death, so confirming her notes cannot be done. Regards, Diane

    3. Does anyone out there have access to the Nimrod Marriage Index for all Wiltshire. I would like to find out if the marriage of my convict Robert to Elizabeth (?) is on it. His parents were Joseph Woolford and Martha Iles. As they had 7 children when he sailed off at His Majesty's pleasure in 1848 his marriage is likely to have been before 1837 (maybe?). Can anyone help with this one? Josie
