    3. Chuck - I have this from "Robert Woods of Ireland and Descendants in America", Weightstill Arno Woods, 1909 "Robert [Woods] was killed by lightning near Lynchburg, VA. He left several daughters, all of whom died without issue, save ANN, who married Mr. Petross, and raised a family. Robert's two sons, HAWKINS and JOHN, settled in Kentucky about 1822-1830. Nothing further is known of their families." This Robert is Robert T. Woods, born 1755, according to the above source. His father is Robert Woods, ca 1719-1811. I do not have a death date for Robert T. , but he acted as a guarantor of a deed in Franklin Co, VA in 1823 - this seems a little late if John was indeed orphaned at an early age. (http://c-23.rootsweb.com/usgenweb/archives/va/franklin/deeds/cormack1.txt) There is also a John Woods Jr listed in the 1810 census of Franklin Co, but I am not sure of his relationship to the other Woodses of Franklin Co. Robert T. had a brother Hugh, who also had a son John. Hugh was married in 1799, and died before 1809 - he is mentioned as deceased in the 1809 will of Robert Sr. This John is also said to have settled in Kentucky, with his brother Robert. His other brother, Bailey, settled in Alabama about 1835. His sister Polly married John Hale and also moved to Alabama. Hope this helps, Drew Smith Boulder, CO SIDMANONE@aol.com wrote: > Looking for info and kin to John WOODS born 1791 VA(?), orphaned at early > age, apprenticed as blacksmith in Claiborne Co., came to Pulaski Co.
