Burbie Woods was the son of Jessee Harrison Woods and Martha Ella Pickett, both of Orange Co., NC. Burbie married Annie Taylor and had four children: two boys and two girls. Burbie died before 1940 and the children were dispersed: the boys to Caswell Training School and the girls to Oxford Orphanage. I have no idea what happened to Annie Taylor Woods or where Burbie Woods is buried. We THINK the boys' names were John and Robert. They were about one year apart in age. Both were albino and had poor vision. The family story is that they ran away from the school as teenagers. My best estimate places their birth years as around 1933 and 1934. I have no idea as to the girls' names or ages. My questions: 1. Has anyone ever heard the name "Burbie" before? Is it a nickname for something else? 2. Albinism is a recessive gene, and both parents must be carriers of the gene. Is there anyone else researching the Woods who have found evidence of this gene appearing in their lines? 3. Does anyone know of any death records index for NC in the 1930s? Thanks Renee Woods Roderiques Roderiques@thegrid.net
