I agree with keeping WOOD and WOODS together. Have you ever heard something like "That's John Woods daughter, Jill", well lo and behold, theat was Jill WOOD daughter of John WOOD.......... My mother was a WOOD and has cousins that are WOODS. Somebody added "s" sometimes, and sometimes NOT all the way back to 1850 that I can prove is the same line.......... I'm not sure of the other names or varients, but the WOOD and WOODS being on two list means that someone might miss something that has/hasn't the S on the end, depending on which list they subscribe to.
