    1. [WOODS-L] Re: S vs no S, N vs S pros and cons
    2. Kenneth D Wood
    3. Hey there, I'm one of those people that has to look for both spellings, and fortunately my WOOD/ WOODS stayed in the North until they had better record keeping. I see some pros and cons of multiple lists, You will not get your own message back twice, unless you send it to both lists. If you send your message to both lists in a CC format, you might get zapped by the list owner. Some of my WOOD ancestors cannot be found in some of the census if you don't look under WOODS, which means you would have to post to both lists if you're hoping for help from there. North vs South is easily taken care of in the subject line, N= North, S=South, I open all ROLL CALLS, if I see VA, NC, TN, KY or other southern states I can delete without reading. If I find an ancestor from the South, then I'll start posting them, hoping someone will see them. Post WOOD to the WOOD list, Post WOODS to the WOODS list, A REPLY to you will be on the list you posted to. OR, ASK for a private answer, and put your E-mail address on your posting. When I started searching for my ancestors, I didn't know that the one I was looking for, HAS an S on his birth record, and dropped the S on his marriage record. If I didn't know this today, I might sign up for the WOOD list, looking for his WOOD name, when it might be posted at the same time on the WOODS list. I'm sorry to go on about Subject lines, but that's where it's at, and when you belong to two, or more, lists that are running ROLL CALLS at the same time, you end up reading all evening. Kenneth, (I'll try to watch my subject line) WOOD kdub3@juno.com ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
