Hi George and list: Thanks! >1. Can you provide any of the names of his children (Thomas, Henry, George, >William, and/or John; and Rebecca, Agnes, and/or Nancy?) as well as the >first name of Susan (Mary?) Baltzell's father? William and Susan (Baltzell) Woods' six children were Joseph, b 1845 OH; Timothy, b 1847 OH; Eunice Jane, b 1850 OH; Hester Annie, b 1853 IN; William H., b 1857 IA; and Edward D., b 1861 IA. Unfortunately, I don't have the names of Susan's parents, although a Joseph and Lydia Baltzell are buried in Bladensburg Cemetery, Knox Co, Ohio, and I would like to suspect that they are Susan's parents. >2. Are you positive about the year and county of William's birth as Aug. >1817 in Westmoreland Co., PA? What is the source of this important evidence? I am not positive about the year and county of William's birth. Census gives birthplace as PA. The source of his birthdate and county of Washington, PA, was the book "History of Fremont County, Iowa", 1881, which included a biographical sketch about him, giving birthplace & date (year consistent in censuses), and naming wife Susan and names of their six children (also verified in censuses). >3. Do you have any names of William's siblings, or any other info yet from >your query? At this time, I don't have any names for William's siblings or parents, nor is there other information resulting from the query. >4. Did William live in any other county in PA (or OH) before he ended-up >and married in Knox Co., OH; and did he live the remainder of his life in >Knox Co.? According to his biographical sketch, he left PA with his parents at age 4 (which would be about 1821), and grew to adulthood in Knox Co., OH, learning the shoemaker trade. In 1850 (after daughter Eunice Jane Woods was born), he moved to Indiana (county currently unknown--I wonder if he made it into that census, in addition to the 1850 one for Knox Co., OH). In 1853 he and his family moved to Webster Co, IA, and in 1856 to Fremont Co, IA. His appeared to be the only WOODS family in Webster Co (from state census). He and his family were found in the 1860, 1870, and 1880 censuses in Fremont Co, IA. "The History of Fremont County, Iowa" listed other WOODS families, but they were not born in the same states he lived in during his early years, and I did not see a connection. William's wife Susan is buried in an unmarked grave in Thurman Cemetery, Fremont Co, IA. Their son William H. Woods is also buried there. But I can't locate a grave record for my William Woods. I still need to check the death index for Iowa. Sons Joseph and Timothy Woods, and daughter Eunice Jane (Woods) Donnelly moved to Kansas by 1880. I have not located where daughter Hester Annie went. Sons William H. and Edward D. Woods (who married an Eva Baltzell) appeared to have stayed in Iowa. Jennifer
