I recently ran across a large, 2-volume text entitled "Marriages of some Virginia Residents 1607-1800." It was written by a Dorothy Ford Wulfeck and this edition was published in 1986, but it's probably a reprint of something else. In any event, the following is a verbatim transcript of one of the entries under the surname Woods: Richard, Col., d.1801, son of James (d.1784); m. (1) Margaret_____; m. (2) Elizabeth Ann Stuart, sis. of Col. John of Greenbrier Co, and dau. of David (d. ca 1767, Augusta Co.) [References] Albemarle, p.356; Kogley, pp.562, 572; Waddell, p.370. Does anyone have any idea as to the identity of this particular James Woods who died in 1784, and is indicated to be the father of Richard? Thanks for any comments. Brett F. Woods Santa Fe, New Mexico
