John WOODS born 1791 in VA, orphaned early age, served blacksmith=20 apprentice Claieborne Co. TN, moved to Pulaski Co. KY and married Polly=20 Richardson (DAR connection) 1816, widowed and remarried to Henrietta DUNN=20 1836 Pulaski Co.KY, moved to Lincoln Co. KY by 1840, on census rolls Lincoln= =20 Co. KY 1850, 1860, moved to Leon, Decator Co. IA area March of 1864, moved=20 south of MO/IA border to Mercer Co. MO 1866, died Mercer Co. MO 1867. His=20 children's names seem to be same as those listed for Joseph WOODS. His last= =20 son by first marriage was David Richardson Woods (1833-1884) my=20 greatgreatgrandfather. David named his first son John James Woods this woul= d=20 have been his father and potentially uncle's name. John Woods 1791 also=20 named children John, David, Elizabeth, Andrew. =20 I have much on John WOODS 1791 except positive connection with his parents.=20= =20 Would anyone have more info on John WOODS son of Joseph WOODS which might=20 connect. April 10,1809 he removed to Gibson County, Indiana, and settled on Turkey Hill in sec 21, T 2 S, R 10 W, 3 miles Southwest of Princeton. In 1811 his son Joseph L., and family, followed from Tennessee and settled 2 miles west of the homestead. He died January 16, 1835 on his Turkey Hill farm. =20 Joseph Woods served in the Revolutionary War as a private in Capt. Benj. Briggs=92 Company, 7th Va. Regt.; Muster Roll dated Fort Pitt, Nov. 18,178= 1. =93for the year 1780 and Jan. to Oct., 1781.; =93Term of enlistment, War= =94, =93on command at Wheeling.=94 His name was last borne on Muster Roll for J= une 1783, dated at Fort Pitt, July 3, 1783, with remarks: =93On furlough=94 =20 Their children were (1) John, (2) James, (3) Margaret (Peggy), (4) Patrick, (5) Joseph L., (6) William P, (7) David L. , (8) Issac, (9) Jane, (10) Elizabeth, (11) Samuel Hamilton. =20 This family over the last 150 years has scattered to the four winds across the United States.
