    3. Salem Headlight Salem, AR July 21, 1960 The funeral of Mrs. Owen S. Woods will be held Thursday, July 21 at 2 p.m. in the Salem Baptist church. Rev. Hugh Cooper of Melbourne, Ark. will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Creek cemetery under direction of Carter Funeral Services. Mrs. Woods was the wife of Dr. Owen S. {Shelby} Woods, long time doctor in Funton County. Mary Francis Woods was a native of Knob Creek, ark. The duaghter of the late Timothy and Susan Tommy Sherrill. She was born September 26, 1880, an died at her home Salem, July 19, at the age of 79 years. In 1800 she married David Green Staggs near Knobb Creek. Six children were born to this union. Mr. Staggs died in June 1930. She married Dr. Owen S. Woods April 15, 1939. She is survivied by her companion of the house. Also three sone, Amos Staggs, Jonesboro, Ark., Garland Staggs, West Plains MO, and London Staggs, Independence, MO. Also three daughters, Mrs. Ethel Benbrook, Springield, MO, Mrs. Verline Cooper, St Louis, MO, and Mrs. Pauline Hartam of Salem. Also 19 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, other reltives and friends. Mrs. Woods joined the Baptist church some 60 years ago. Pallbearers will be Guy Harris, James Carter, Wayne Staggs, Billy Gtagge, Marcus King and Floyd Hickman. {Mrs. Woods' husband, Dr. Own Stelbyu Woods was born in Izard County, 4 miles east of Oxford on February 17, 1870} Charlotte Arrington mecha@matnet.com
