I need to repost my migration chart and correct a gross error. My lineage does not extend to Jeremiah Wood and Mary "Polly" Dooley Wood. I had believed because of so many similarities that Jeremiah Wood of Jackson County, Missouri was the same Jeremiah who was the son to Jeremiah and Polly. This past week I found information to the contrary. Jeremiah Wood of Jackson Co.,Missouri married Elizabeth Stanley in 1813 in Halifax County, Va. One source claims he was the son of a Thomas Wood and that he received a bequest of land in Bedford County. You can see the reasons for confusion. The following is what I am left with: 1. Thomas Wood 2. Jeremiah Wood m. Elizabeth Stanley (or Standley) daughter of John Stanley. They went to Jackson County, Missouri in 1832. Tombstones have been found, and I have pictures, in Missouri. Elizabeth's tombstone even verifies that she came to Missouri in 1830. Their children were: John Stanley Wood, James Wood, Nathaniel Wood, Edward Wood (my great great grandfather), Richard D. Wood, William Wood, Joseph Wood, Jeremiah Benton Wood, Mary Wood, Elizabeth "Eliza" Wood, and Martha C. Wood. 3. Edward Wood m. Ann Adams 3. Mary Elizabeth Wood m. John Garland Walsh 4. Thomas Jefferson Walsh m. Annie Simmons 5. Vida Walsh m. James P. Norie 6. Dorothy Jeane Norie m. William E. Strange We have two daughters Lisa m. R. W. Kuhn, they have 1 son, Alex Leigh m. Theodore J. Archacki II and they have 2 sons: Teddy and Will I am sorry for any confusion I have caused the Wood Clan. I stumbled across a Power of Attorney which led me to a Will and then a Will settlement that proved that Jeremiah Wood of the Peaks of Otter family was married to Martha Feazle. I have also said that Jeremiah Wood, husband of Mary Polly Dooley had no will. I found that he did, but that it is not listed in the Will Index because it was not accepted for probate. Someone had written in the Index that a will existed and could be found elsewhere. If anyone has been told that a will does not exist they might look further and ask for assistance. This is another source availble to us that I certainly was not aware of and probably others aren't either. This will was contested therefore not accepted for probate. I am looking for information on the Jeremiah Wood who lived in Halifax, Pittsylvania and Patrick Counties and who married Elizabeth Stanley. Is he the son of a Thomas. If so is it the Thomas of Halifax who was a son of John Wood, Will of 1801 does not list a Jeremiah and it does list other grand and great grand children. Help! Dorothy
