Hi Russell, I am very interested in your William Woods. The connection that interests me is Sussanah C. McKinley Woods. I have a William Woods b: 18 Dec 1830 in Gallatin, Sumner, Tennessee d: 9 Sep 1902 in Swan Township, Taney, Missouri. William md: Elizabeth Estep b: 1 Jun 1830 in Gaither, Boone, Arkansas on 4 Nov 1855 in Popular Bluff, Butler, Missouri. William and Elizabeth had a daughter name Tempia Ellen Woods. Tempia Ellen married Charles Owen Lane and one of their daughters is named Bertha Jane McKinley Lane (my grandmother). I have never been able to understand where the McKinley came from. Grandma is dead now and no one in the family knows where the name came from either. I would think that the McKinley name is more than coincidence. Do you know where the name originates?
