Hello. I am researching the Civil War regiment 4th Tennessee Cavalry (Union), and will eventually be concentrating on Co K of that regiment, about which I intend to write a book. In Co K of that regiment there was a soldier named Shadrack WOODS, b abt 1845 in Tennessee. He enlisted Feb 14, 1864, and survived the war, mustering out with the regiment in July 1865. However, I do not find his name in the 1890 Tennessee Veteran's Census, and neither he nor his family applied for any sort of Federal pension based on his military service.
