I just found out that an EVERY NAME index of the 1880 census is now available on CD. This is different than the head of household index previously available. You can now order a 36 CD rom set that contains EVERY SINGLE name of EVERY SINGLE person in the 1880 census of United States. You can search by first name, last name, partial name, soundex, birth place, parents birth place, as well as any other field providing information on the 1880 census. I for one am excited to finally find all those ancestors that I haven't been able to locate. You can order the CD set at www.familysearch.com Click the tab that says "order software". Then select "census" You will then have several options- the last option is the 1880 census index for every name in the U.S. Apparently they are currently on backorder, but should be available by August 1st on a first ordered basis.
