    1. [WOODS-L] Woods, 1764
    2. I have a Charles Woods born abt. 1750 somewhere in America. He became a physician and took citizenship papers in St. Croix, then Danish West Indies, in 1781, in the midst of the Revolution. St. Croix gave out lots of citizenship papers at this time, as the islands were crucial to commerce and the British were unable to stop the trade with the Americans. I do not know whether he was a Loyalist seeking refuge from his native land or a Revolution sympathizer whose eyes in a port such as St. Croix could be crucial to the cause. In the next generation, there was a connection to Philadelphia, where Charles's son William Henry Woods died in 1854 or so. Let me know if any of this rings any bells, please. Laura
