Thomas Woods, grandfather of Joseph B., came to Kentucky in 1784, and settled in Jessamine County, living for a time in Wilson's Station. He served as an independent scout in the Revolution for five years; died in 1845, aged eighty-four. He entered Central University at Richmond, in 1874, and graduated in 1878; became proprietor and editor of the Jessamine Journal, conducting it from 1879 to 1882, and was superseded by Charles Deering. He then engaged in buying and selling tobacco from 1883 to 1884, and in 1885 he engaged in the drug business. In October, 1886, he married Miss Kate A. I found this in a local library and it was last published by Garrett& Massie in 1966? It contains 500 + pages of Wood family genealogy. I did verify this virus alert, and found it on my system as well. For more informtion on how this "W97M/Melisa", Worm/Macro/Word97 virus works and how to cure it see McAfee's web page: http://www.mcafee.com/ Follow the "Virus Alert" link in the left center of that page which will take you to: http://www.avertlabs.com/public/datafiles/valerts/vinfo/melissa.asp I checked my system and found that I have been hit by it (list1.doc exists in my default attachment directory), but it has not been executed. I have identified who sent this virus to me and alerted that person directly who is using the "filenet.com" ISP. I received the virus infected message Fri, 26 Mar 1999 16:06:47 -0800. It was not forwarded by my system, as the message was caught by one of my email filters as "spam". One humorous(?) effect this virus has had is that it normally sends 50 email messages to propage itself. Although I have not been effected by it, by forwarding this alert I have forwarded "THE ALERT" to nearly 2000 people. Am I doing the same thing as the virus? You decide!
