Mounce b: 1824 4) Nancy Mounce b: 1827 5) Henry Mounce b: 1829 6) James Sherman Mounce b: 1834 7) Emiline Mounce b: 1836 8) John Dixon Mounce b: 1838 Any information would be appreciated. I live in the North and I'm searching for WOOD ancestors from NJ, PA, NY, CT, MA, but most of the things I see are for Southern WOOD(S). I often feel like an orphan, up here. I would really like to see the WOOD/WOODS names kept on the same list. You never know when someone might have been in a hurry, or didn't hear the "s"!! That's my two- worth! Thanks, Carol
There appears to be some disparity in the information concerning Andrew Woods, the son of John Woods and Elizabeth (and I will not use a last name here for a number of reasons). Does anyone have any references on either or both of these theories? Andrew WOODS BORN: 1680, Nothern Ireland DIED: 1729, Antigua, British West Indies MARRIED: Elizabeth FRAME, Est. 1711-1727, Andrew WOODS BIRTH: 1690, Blair Park, Ulster, Ireland DEATH: Aug 1756, Hanover Twp, Lancaster, PA MARRIED: Sarah UNK Thanks. An obituary for Louisa Maria Woods WHITNEY, died 1892 Freeport, Illinois, stated she was survived by a sister in South Dakota. Does anyone have in their family tree: Mary Larina Woods, b.1836 VT Laura Celinda Woods b.1839 VT ? It is possible that the latter became Laura Celinda WHITE. Both were children of William and Mary Woods. Thanks. Christine Draisey chris1@pcpartner.net
Two wood lists is too much. I will stay with this list and still post my wood families on it as well as My Woods names but they are actually the same family so why split families two different Wood and Woods is foolish wasts time and also space on the server. just my openion. but I am not going to add another list to my list of lists. Now THAT is an interesting idea! Although I gotta be honest and say that someone must be getting a heck of a lot of messages that I don't get to think that there is too much traffic on this one. With the (welcome) exception of the roll call, IMHO, it hasn't been overwhelming (and, yes, I do work full time, and, yes, I do commute, and, yes, I do keep house, etc.) -----Original Message----- From: Judith V. Chris, because my family roots use the S and a lot do not, I should be on both lists. Unfortunately, my ancestors left Pennsylvania or New York and went South. Somewhere along the way the S was either added or left off a key anscestor so that now half spell the name Woods and the other spell it Wood. Something about "making things easier for researchers" sounds like having the Government help you. So how do I get on both lists? Wayne Wood(s)
I am trying to locate two lost cousins, Harry Lee Woods Jr. and Douglas Richard Woods. They are the children of Harry Lee Woods Sr and Ruth Dunmon Woods of Roanoke, Virginia. Harry Lee Jr. was born in 1940 and Douglas is a few years younger. If anyone has run across these two please let me know. We have a Dunmon reunion every year and I would like to put them on the mailing list. Thanks!! Lynda Murphy
A definite drawback that I see is that families didn't always stay put. A family might have been in the north in the early 1800's, moved south later on, or vice versa. Also, the branch you know may be in the south with unknown roots in the north, or vice versa. Sally
I totally agree that a Northern and Southern list makes a lot more sense than a Wood & Woods. I've hoped for a long time that it would eventually develop into the North-South format, but didn't have the nerve to speak up. Thanks Judy! Gay Edens Carrigan
Charles, Have you tried this URL: www.bibliofind.com? It's a book search website. If your book is not currently available, you may enter it on your "Wish List". When it becomes available, they will e-mail you. I found my Chandler Genealogy book through them! Sally

Dear everybody, I am very confused.....Bettie Wood has already started and paid for a WOOD list....why do we now have 2 lists? Who is Mike, and why wasn't this announced earlier? This is really working at cross purposes... Is this some kind of political situation? I already have joined Bettie's list.....Judith Wood
Hi, This is just my opinion, but why should we limit ourselves to just the one list when we might miss out on a world of knowledge or links or research that might only show up on the other one? I will stay on both lists only because if there's anything I've learned, it's that people's names have changed over the years and people don't stay put! I will say that I prefer to have just one list, strictly because of the overlapping of messages that we are about to receive. Also, if I'm correct, to receive mail from both lists, we don't have to do anything, right? Only if we want to stay on one list or the other do we have to unsubscribe and then subscribe again to the appropriate list. If I'm right, I guess I'll receive this message twice. If not, I guess I'm totally confused. -Christa
Hi guys! I have found that if I subscribe to a list in digest mode, I can read that list in abt 2-3 minutes depending upon the number of posts on the digest. It is very easy to join and scan many lists via the digest and it also makes it easier to focus since you are not going from family A, to family S, to the Wood/s family and back to A, etc. They are all together, and in a nice, neat package. Seeking parents and birthplaces of Wilson Woods, b. c1818 and Princess Ann Woods, b. 1 April 1818. They married in 1838 in Orange Co., NC. Their children were Mildred, Sarah, Mary, Martha Allen (m. Marshall James Hughes), Parthenia, Francis, Ann, Dennis William, Sidney, and Temperance. Princess Ann aka Ann Hutchinson. Could she have been married to another Woods before Wilson? Any help greatly appreciated. JoAnn
I saw this note sometime back as well. It indicated that the WF INDEX was available at a library in Austin Texas. If anyone can tell me specifically which library, that would be appreciated. Can Anyone find me a copy of "WOOD FAMILY INDEX" I have tried Book finder and others second hand book clubs with no success. I found this in a local library and it was last published by Garrett& Massie in 1966? It contains 500 + pages of Wood family genealogy. Sub titled "John Sumner Wood" It starts about 1683 up through 1910. It is an exhaustive older record of Wood Genealogy It takes work but it has most first names laid out in alphabetical order.
