Does anyone have a Wood family that is somehow related to a Wickman family-perhaps James Wickman and Mary? lequia@elite.net
Phoebe WOOD or WOODS m. Asa PARKER about 1800 in probably Jefferson Co., GA. I am searching for her parents and siblings. Either John or William, brother of General Solomon Wood, is a possibility of being her father. John Wood made a will which was probated 6 Dec 1802 in Jefferson Co., GA but a copy of the will cannot be found. Witness: Joseph Barber Another John Wood was listed on the 1830 Jefferson Co., GA Census on page 409. Does anyone out there know who were the parents of Phoebe Wood? Siblings? Asa and Phoebe Wood/s Parker moved to Monroe Co., AL by 1830 and to Lauderdale Co., MS by 1850. Glad to share. Thank you! Was someone looking for Valentine Wood recently? I ran across a reference to him in the History of Albemarle. That is Albemarle County, Virginia. He was the son of Henry Wood(s) the first Clerk of Goochland. In 1734 and 1739 he was granted twenty-six hundred fifty 2650 acres on Buck Island, etc. His son Valentine became a resident of Albemarle and was appointed one of its magistrates in 1746. He returned to Goochland when his father died in 1757 and succeeded him in the Clerk's Office. After Valentine's death his family once again moved to Albemarle. Dorothy

Hi Charlotte, I'm not sure whether you are inquiring about where the will of John Wood was probated or where Eli C. Woods was born, so I will answer both questions. The will of John Woods was filed for probate at Gallatin, Sumner, Tennessee. The children of William and Elizabeth Woods were born in Swan Township, Taney, Missouri and Gaither, Boone, Arkansas. I do have names and birth dates if you are interested. Eli C. was born in Arkansas most likely Gaither as his brother David Christopher was born in Gaither. Does that answer you question? Yvonne
Good Morning! I'm sorry Judy, I do not have an Elijah Woods born abt 1778. I am still in the early research stages on my William Woods. However, William and Elizabeth (Estep) Woods did have a son named Eli C born 1858. Russell, I need to do some more research and see if I can find this particular family in the 1840 Census with their mother Jane Woods. I have not substanciated that my William Woods belonged to this family - it has been assumed that he did. So, I certainly need to do more work. In the Holographic Will (which I do not personally have copy of) given October 24, 1834 and probated in February of 1836 the following children are listed: John Wood, James F. Wood, Charles Wood, Robert Wood, Sarah Wood, and William Wood. My William is the youngest of these children. I will throw out the names of the two witnesses to the will, as you never know when a clue will surface. The two witnesses were John Lauderdale and John Booker. I will let you know what I find out. Yvonne
Does anyone have information on William Woods, born 1836 in Lancaster, PA? On the 1850 census he is shown living with a Dr. and his family in Lancaster, Pa. He was 14 years old at the time of the census. He had two sisters..Elizabeth and Mary Jane. Elizabeth married Ezra or Elias Wolfe of Virginia and Mary Jane married Stanard Dameron. I have information on them, but not on William. Can anyone help? Thanks.. Have a great day.
Robert and Elizabeth Woods are listed on both the 1850 and 1860 Federal Cenuses of Coosa County Alabama, On the 1850 census Robert Woods is listed as being 67 years old while Elizabeth was listed as being 62. Robert's birthplace was listed as South Carolina while Elizabeth was born in Georgia. The 1860 Census was bviously not as thorough as they were both listed as being 70 years old and both born in Georgia. The children that were listed on the 1850 census were Jane age 40, Elizabeth 35, Mary 23,and John W 21. All of these children were born in Georgia and I doubt this was all of them as there was a gap of 12 years between two children. This would have been a rarity in that day and time. Since the Indian lands didnt open up until after the 1830's it would be safe to assume this Woods Family lived somewhere in Eastern Georgia. There oldest child according to the census would have born around 1810. Does anyone recognize this family? What about the Woods Families of Madison County Georgia? I would like to hear from any Woods Family researcher who had a "Robert" Woods as head of the household and living in Georgia between the years 1810 and 1849. The truth is out there! Russell
Hi All, Just wanted everyone to know that I have finally gotten my WOODs on line. Also, if you are researching any of these people please share. That's part of the fun. I do have more to publish so check back again. Thanks much! Linda Parker Magellan

Does anyone have information on Robert W Woods who is listed on the 1840 Bibb County Alabama Federal Census? I have heard that he was married to an Elizabeth Goff and died in 1831.I think that he was born in the 1770's.Does anyone know who his parents were? Can anyone help? Russell
Hi Again Russell, I failed to mention that the assumed father of my William Woods is John Woods who died abt 1836 in Gallatin, Sumner, Tennessee. Also, the first born son of Charles Owen Lane and Tempia Ellen Woods was William Robert. I have more information on the John Woods family and would love to share with you. Yvonne
Hi Russell, I am very interested in your William Woods. The connection that interests me is Sussanah C. McKinley Woods. I have a William Woods b: 18 Dec 1830 in Gallatin, Sumner, Tennessee d: 9 Sep 1902 in Swan Township, Taney, Missouri. William md: Elizabeth Estep b: 1 Jun 1830 in Gaither, Boone, Arkansas on 4 Nov 1855 in Popular Bluff, Butler, Missouri. William and Elizabeth had a daughter name Tempia Ellen Woods. Tempia Ellen married Charles Owen Lane and one of their daughters is named Bertha Jane McKinley Lane (my grandmother). I have never been able to understand where the McKinley came from. Grandma is dead now and no one in the family knows where the name came from either. I would think that the McKinley name is more than coincidence. Do you know where the name originates? I would love to hear from you. Yvonne Strong Post Falls, Idaho ystrong@sisna.com
Hi I have two Harris Woods and a Harrison Woods in Orange Co. NC and notes on a Harris Woods in Randolph County, NC. As far as I know, none were married to a Ellen -- and they are certainly nowhere near Rhode Island or Wisconsin -- but here's what I have: 1. Harris Woods born abt 1764 in NC. Harris married Jemimah Forrester of Orange County, NC before 1800. Jemimah was born 1768 and was the sixth of nine children of Benjamin Forrester and Sarah Wood. Jemimah's siblings married into the Chisenhall, Tanner, Dossett, Whitlow, Johnson and Leathers families. (It looks like part of the family went to KY after Benjamin's death.) 2. Harrison (sometimes Harris) Woods was born abt 1807 in NC. He married Patsey Cardin on Sept. 23,1831 in Orange County, NC. I suspect that he died between 1870-1880 in Orange County, NC. Known children: James, Caroline, William Washington and John H. 3. Harris Woods, grandson of #2 above through William W. Woods and Martha L. Clinton. Born 1860 in Orange County. I have no other info -- he's been a real mystery, and I suspect he may have died quite young. It appears that he was a twin of my Jesse Harrison Woods, but is definitely not the same person as Jesse. 4. Harris Kimball Woods born April 04, 1827 in Randolph County, NC. He was son of Penuel Woods and Sarah Kimball. I have no other info on this Harris. As I said, these are a far distance and time from your Harris Woods, but should you get any other info on any of them, I'd sure appreciate it if you'd pass it along. ==== WOODS Mailing List ==== No part of these messages nor the archives file containing them may be published or redistributed in any form by a "FOR PROFIT" or commercial organization.
