It could also be reprinted and sold to libraries and other interested parties to spread the reaserch futher. Laurie Wood Brandt

    3. Hello Jack, Jean and Woods cousins, On another list in which I participate, one of the members coordinated an effort and requested volunteers to transcribe the cemetery records of one of the counties (covered by that list) to make available at the county website. Volunteers received by mail copies of individual cemetery compilations to transcribe, then e-mailed the finished product back to the coordinator to post on the website. It was a very successful and useful endeavor. Perhaps a variation on that idea could be employed by interested WOOD-WOODS Family researchers? A database would need to be chosen and guidelines established. Someone on the list may already have the ability to burn cd's once the information is assembled. If not, cd burners are becoming standard equipment on new computers. By the time the project is completed, even I might have one... <g> Fay Clark "J. L. I'm sure the technology exists and that it would be well worth the effort. Your approach makes sense but I wouldn't know how to get something like this started. 3. Fellow WOOD/WOODS researchers, It was sad to learn that Mr. Harold WOOD, publisher of the WOOD-WOODS Family Magazine passed away last year. Since this magazine had such a wealth of information and has proven to be such a valuable resource for so many WOOD/WOODS researchers through the years, does anyone know of a way that the information could some how be loaded onto a CD or made available online in some way? Since there are so many issues and so much data, making copies available just doesn't seem practical. I finally got a hold of his son - I think in January and the writer, please forgive me for not remembering his name, had just passed away from a long illness. i don't know if the son is going to take over or not. I have been trying to find the books to buy. If anyone also finds the volumes to buy please let me know how you did it. Or maybe we can put our heads together on this one. I am waiting for the college in tuscaloosa to call me back if they have it. I hope this helps. sincerely bobbie ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: [WOOD-L] Re: WOOD-WOODS FAMILY MAGAZINE Date: Sun, 30 Apr 2000 23:31:42 -0500 From: "Susan Reynolds" <s3js@email.msn.com> To: "J. I know there was one several months ago asking that someone take over the magazine. I've never heard anything else after that. The Tuscaloosa Historical Society could probably fill you in. I think they have all his work now. Susan.

    3. Was someone looking for Wiley P. Wood recently? I copied some census records at the Historical Society of Virginia some time ago and in looking through them today I found the following listed in the 1850 Census of Virginia. Wiley P. Wood Kana Co p 006 Charl.Est.Dist. I assume Kana means Kanawa or Kanawah County, but I am not sure. West Virginia now has such a county. I am not sure if it was named that while still part of Virginia. Dorothy.

    3. These are my only "C" WOODS 1. Carolina WOODS m. William C. CHAMBLEE in Orange County, NC. Marriage bond date is January 08, 1852 with John R. CHAMBLEE as bondsman. 2. Caroline WOODS b. abt 1834 (according to 1860 Orange Co. Census) in NC. Parents were Patsey CARDIN and Harrison WOODS. Siblings include James, William Washington and John H. WOODS. Are Carolina and Caroline the same person? I strongly suspect that they are, but cannot find proof. Patsey and Harrison Woods do have a 9-year old Martha Shambley living with them in 1860, but I know there are other ties to the CHAMBLEE through the CLINTON and VICKERs lies and hesitate to merge the Caroline and Carolina w/o further input. 3. Clarrisa WOODDS m Willie Horner in Orange Co. NC. Bond date is April 7, 1834. Bondsman was Harrison Harris. As Harris and Harrison were popular first names in my Woods line during this time, I'm interested in information on Clarissa, Willie or Harrison. ==== WOODS Mailing List ==== Do NOT send messages to the WOODS list that are also sent "TO" or "CC"ed to others. 3. Hello Dave, To my knowledge, the WOOD-WOODS Family Magazine is no longer being published. I believe the last issue was in 1998. I pre-payed for the 1st issue in 1999 but never received it. After waiting several months, I sent an E-mail to the publisher, Harold WOOD and received a reply saying that it had been delayed due to health problems. In February, after a year I sent another inquiry but I've never received an answer. It's unfortunate that it is no longer being published.
