My Grandmother's name was Effie Woods. My Mother died when I was three and there isn't much information I have on Grandmother Woods and her family. She was married to Allen Griffin and they had three children in Perry County, Ohio. They owned a general store and ice cream parlor (combined) in Old Straitsville, Ohio. My GGrandparents(Griffin) are buried in The Old Stone Catholic Church Cemetery in Old Straitsville, Ohio. Grandmother and Grandfather Griffin's children's names were Jen, Minnie and Herbert. They had a son that died when he was 3 in a fire. His name was Carley. It has been said among family members that Grandfather Griffin was of Native American descent. By the way, I do not know my GGrandparent's names. Any help would be appreciated Sherole
I'am looking for information on JOHN THOMAS WOODS/WOOD. John was raised in Chicago Illinois and married his first wife Minnie Ella Huenecke in 1903 Chicago, They had a son Robert Steven Woods born 1904 Chicago. What happened to Minnie and John after that is still unknown. John went on and played baseball for the Three I League before heading to Virginia, Georgia, Florida and finally signed with Detroit in 1917, at that time he gave his home address as Green Cove Springs, Florida. Robert their son was raised by his grandparents Henry and Caroline Huenecke. We know that Minnie died before 1916. It is said that Minnie may have had twin sons and that John took the twins with him when he left the Chicago area. We are somewhat sure that John may have remarried. If any one has any information on John, Minnie or the twin boys, I would love hearing from you. I have a great deal of information on this Woods line here in the States as well as England and Ireland. Patti Woods Crick gabbycrick@aol.com

I sent messages to Dee and Chuck & Bonnie.I thought they would go to the list but I see they were sent to them directly.Seems to be a lot of confusion out there on the Gibson co., IN to Jasper co., ILL Woods. I wonder if anyone thinks John b. 1803 TN may have been raising his brothers after the death of their parents ? Just an idea and a weak one at that.I show James G. b. 1820 and Patrick E. b. 1822 as the sons of my John and his first wife ,probably Malinda Goodwin. Emily Matthews

I think the name Wood and Woods are one and the same. In my mothers family some brothers spelled the name with an "s", and others without. Leah
Joe and Others, The list was split in March of 1999, and became WOODS-L and WOOD-L separately. If you are mainly interested in WOOD, you can send a "subscribe" message to: <WOOD-L-REQUEST@rootsweb.com> I believe the list moderator for the WOOD list is Mike Wood. You can visit his website at: http://www.dlcwest.com/~mgwood He has a ton of WOOD and WOODS information and links there. Are there any Woods Family researchers out there who have come across the family of Robert and Elizabeth Woods of 1830 and 1840's Troup County Georgia. Robert was born avt 1783 and Elizabeth abt 1788.They migrated westward to Coosa County Alabama. They had several children. Robert Jr and married to Sarah Harbuck in Georgia was a son of his. If there are Madison County Georgia Woods researchers who can confirm this Robert as being a part of that line I'd like to hear from them as well. Thanks! Russell
