I believe that Freelove's father was Jonathan Matteson and that she had an older sister Patience(1770) But, there appear to be so many Matteson families, most of them related, that had daughters which they named Freelove. My Freelove had four sons, William, Amos, Caleb and Clark Nichols. I am a descendent of Clark and nis wife Nancy Howell. The Nichols moved to Sardinia, Erie, NY after Freelove died in 1811. I also think that there was a daughter that also died, because on the 1800 census it shows a young girl. However, there were no daughters that went to Sardinia. William Nichols stayed in Rhode Island (Coventry) and his family can be traced through Rhode Island. Clark and Nancy's oldest son was Luther and my great grandfather. Luther is the one who married Evalyn Woodmansee. As I understand, Evalyn was a schoolteacher. Luther also taught school in Tennessee at a privte schoo! l before he moved to Monona, Clayton, Iowa.
