    3. Hi In some cases the kidlings in the house were listed with the "head of household name". Such as my grandfather married a widow women who had 2 children by her first husband and on the 1920 census the 2 kidlings were listed with my grandfather's name but after he passed away the kidlings were listed with their father's name on the 1930 census. Also I have noticed that women with small children and no husband in the house are listed as widows rather then divorcees although the errant husband was still very much alive. I have a great grand father that was a real cad and married 4 times that I know of and have yet to find one divorce for him and each wife outlived him. :) Pat "[email protected]" <[email protected]> wrote: This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. 1. [WOODMANSEE] Obituary for Lucille M. Woodmansee 1918 - 2007 Allan
    2. Phyllis Garratt
    3. >From the Marin Independent Journal dated September 5th 2007. (I am not related to her nor do I have any other information other than what is posted here). Lucille M. Woodmansee, March 31, 1918 – August 21, 2007. Lucille was born in Eureka, California, but lived her adult years in Marin County (CA). Beloved wife of the late Allan Woodmansee, loving mother of Gary Woodmansee and Judi Lewis and grandmother to Michael Woodmansee and Tamra Fishman. Lucille’s life was her family and her happiest times were spent surrounded by those she loved. In her youth, in San Francisco, she enjoyed golf outings with her husband and friends. Moving to Marin, she raised her family and vacations were spent up in Eureka at the family ranch. In her later years she enjoyed reading, bingo and trips to Tahoe to enjoy the scenery and try her luck with the “one armed bandit”. She always said her life was straightforward and uncomplicated and she wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. In Lucille’s honor, donations are requested for Hospice by the Bay. 1. [WOODMANSEE] Richard Woodmansee (1878-1954)
    2. Robert A. Fetters
    3. Uncle Dick WOODMANSEE was my great uncle, brother of my Grandmother, Stella Clara WOODMANSEE POWELL. His 1st son, Owen WOODMANSEE ended up in NY State (Buffalo), but Uncle Dick had married (1)-Dode / Dora / Cazadora ARNOLD and (2)-Edith Estelle PRIEST. My records do not indicate the reason (death, divorce, etc) for the 1st marriage being supplanted by the 2nd. I talked to my Mother this AM, and she "thinks" Dick's 1st wife died before his 2nd marriage. One of Uncle Dick's daughters, the 2nd of 3 children by the second marriage, still lives in Wilmington, OH. If you want to pursue further, please contact me off List < [email protected] >. I was the person responsible for compiling this branch of the WOODMANSEE family, and can take you back to the 1600's if you are a descendant? If your only interest is in the 1st wife, I can add a little, but not much, to her story. The woman's name was Woodmancy --- she had gone to a neighbor's house, distant about a mile from her own, to spend the Christmas, and started homeward about sundown; a snow storm coming up she missed her path, and wandered through the woods. They were both found frozen to death on Monday morning. How the wretched woman must have clung to her unconscious child, as she felt the chill of death stealing over her!"

Lois married Venning Hooper in MI and had four children, Miles, Brad S., Nettie and one more sister. The family split up for reasons unknown. Two of the children went with Lois's brother Frank (brother & sisters) and his parents to Holyrood, KS (near Ellsworth) where our family originated (Brad S. and Lucy Huggins-Hooper). Hooper-Huggins Families all buried in the Ellsworth City Cemetery. Some of their children migrated to Salina, Hays, Plainville, McPherson and most in the Wichita Area. I was born in Wichita along with a brother and sister (living). There is only one of Brad and Lucy Hooper offspring still living: Marjorie L. Hooper in OK with her RN daughter-in-law. I've been looking for the Woodmansee Family connection for over twenty years and relulted in dead ends everywhere. I've been to the Ellsworth Cemetery and never spotted any of the Woodmansee headstone. Please return contact at my e-Mail address: <[email protected]> or my postal box: Dean A Hooper, P.O. James Burrill Woodmansee apparently had a child out of wedlock by the daughter of his first cousin. That daughter was Penelope Woodmansee and the the child was James Burrill Woodmansee, b. 3/7/1869. I have four children of Penelope and Charles Fenner. They are: Martha, Almira, Mary, and Cora. I'd be glad to share sources and information on this branch of the family. Lee Woodmansee
