    3. Carol, Iva is correct. I have her name as Charlotte's name as Greenman, based on Eldad's pension application. The only Lake Como church records I'm aware of are a transcription at the Wayne County Historical Society, not the originals. I used them as my source for their marriage date, but I don't remember how her name was spelled. I'll try to remember to look at them again. I actually live on a farm where Susan Candace Woodmansee and her husband William Willet Watson lived, Susan was daughter of Jared and Hannah Vallet. I have more info. for Samuel, Asa,James, Jared, and Moses if anyone needs it. Also I have pictures of alot of Woodmansee headstones. I am not related. Just was curious about 'who' used to live here and got very interested in the Woodmansees and Watsons.

To the best of my knowledge, there were at least two different branches of the NJ Woodmansee family in Clinton County, OH (one mine, the Samuel Woodmansee Sr branch). Further, the second branch was located mostly in the western, OH (Middletown) area. A third branch was from NY, but is quite scattered, and only Dave Davisson of Columbus has a real appreciation of those. The original posting (by Allison) for a John F. Woodmansee (b. 1835) does not appear to be from the Samuel Woodmansee Sr branch in Highland & Clinton Counties, OH. I also have no (Clinton County) record for the later posting (by Phyllis) of Charles Manning Woodmansee. Now he could have been missed, but that seems unlikely. Sorry I can't have been more help, but negative results also count for something, don't they? : )

He married Valrie Turner about 1925 whom he met while in St. Louis Missouri. He was a travelling saleman. He died in Florida. An older relative says his family was from New York, but his death certificate says Wilmington, Ohio. I have only just learned of his birth place so have not yet checked out records on Woodmansee's in Wilmington. Wilmington is in Clinton County. You might give that a try, and stay in touch. Perhaps our Woodmansee's are related as I've never encountered any other Woodmansee's from Ohio.

First, you have an already established lineage, and a near Cousin who has worked years on it. You go back in Clinton and Highland Counties OH to the 1810's, and ultimately to Gabriel Woodmansee in the 1600's. I will attach a copy of the flyer that is just out on the book that has been in progress since the mid 1980's. Please, if you can, I would like to suggest you order a copy of this book!! Your Woodmansee grandmother is the last generation in the book and has the descent number 127441611---each digit represents a child in a descent. Jennie Mae was the daughter of Fred Woodmansee & Jennie Clark/Lee (12744161). You tie to many other lines that are fairly well known, too. By the way, we do not have a record of any siblings for Jennie Mae, so you can contribute there (please). The cousin who has a similar descent is JoAnn Fox of Bristol Village in Waverly, OH. I have copied her on this e-mail, but am not sure she can respond (health reasons). I am sure she will, if she can, as those from the Francis Woodmansee line (like you and her) are rare. If you want to send me your US mail address, I'll drop you some Family Group Sheets back to Samuel Woodmansee Sr, the progenitor of most of the Highland and Clinton County, OH Woodmansees. He and his wife Aulice Jeffery are buried at Highland, with a Revolutionary War marker (from Monmouth Co NJ). I will also copy the List, but am not sure the attachment will go through (for the book). Please List, if you want to order a copy of "the definitive Woodmansee Genealogy", contact me or Janet Parker ASAP. The book is scheduled for Feb 2003 release, in a very limited 2 volume edition.
