This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: WILSON, WILLSON, WOODALL, NESMITH, VEST, Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YFXBAEB/709.1 Message Board Post: Ken, Thinking that your message wouldn't help me, I almost stopped reading Mattie's obit, but then my eye caught a couple of names of interest. I've been looking for a Lewis/Louis Woodall for a very long time without much success. The names Brasher and Perkins, in the obituary, are names that I think could possibly be connected. I'm trying to find my Wilson/Willson ancestors and am in need of much help. My Wilson line was connected to the Woodalls thru marriages. My g gfather, Abram/Abraham/Abe Wilson/Willson, was born ca 1850-52 somewhere in GA and married to Sarah Jane Nesmith in Lawrence Co, AL in 1870. She and her family were from Morgan Co, AL and her grandparents were Woodalls, earlier residents of Milledgeville, Baldwin/Jasper Co, GA. These Woodalls left GA abt 1819 and settled in AL. Below are bits and pieces that I've found but still can't put together. Could any of the people here mentioned be connected to your Woodall line? I show: [In 1860 Bellefonte, Jackson County, AL census in household #163, there is a Louis Woodall, age 13 (born Walker Co GA?? ca 1847) living in the household of a Thomas Wilson, 59 yrs old, born ca 1801 in TN. Wife is Mildred (Rogers??) Wilson, 48 yrs old, born VA ca 1812. Other children shown are: Kitty Ann, 14; Paulina, 12; Manerva, 11; Miriah, 9; and Samuel, 4; all born in AL. Could this Louis Woodall be kin to Thomas Wilson? Could these two be kin to MY Wilsons and Woodalls? [On this same 1860 Bellefonte, Jackson Co, AL census, living near Stevenson, AL is possibly Lewis/Louis Woodall's mother and siblings. This is unproven. Also shown in that same family is Lucinda Perkins and her children. Frances and Lucinda could be related. The estimated birthdates are my own guesses. Census shows: Francis (Frances) Woodall, age 37, born Ga ca 1823 Paulina J. Woodall, age 11, born AL ca 1849 John H. Woodall, age 3, born AL ca 1857 Lucinda Perkins, age 42, born TN ca 1818 John Perkins, age 22, born TN? (census not clear) ca 1838 Mary A. Perkins, age 11, born TN? ca 1849 Martha J. Perkins, age 9, born TN? ca 1851 William H. Perkins, age 7, born TN? ca 1853 George H. Perkins, age 4, born TN? ca 1856 ALSO: In Cass County, MO One Lucinda Wilson m. Zachariah Perkins March 13 1846 (could this be the above Lucinda Perkins?) Posted by Sandi Jones on Jan 26, 2002: My Woodall was Lewis Woodall married to Anne Elizabeth Scott. I am however stuck on the parentage of Lewis Woodall. Lewis was born in Walker County GA to an Elias Woodall (origin unknown) who supposedly died when Lewis was about 5. Lewis' mother was Francis Brasher or Roser or Rosen. Francis was born in GA and I don't know her parents names yet. Lewis was bound out at the age of 8 to a Thomas Wilson in Bellafonte AL until 1863 when Lewis enlisted into the 4th KY Calvary. I have Lewis' civil war and pension records but due to Lewis being iliterate and his youth when he was separated from his parents, he relayed no more info about his parents. I have found both Lewis (Louis) and his mother in the 1860 census in Jackson County AL, then found Lewis again in 1900 & 1910 in the Grayson County KYcensus. Ken, I hope you won't mind my sending this data to you in hopes that you might be able to offer your thoughts? Thanks for any help. Paula
