Ginny, Sorry about not identifying the subject! What I really wanted to know was who your Isaac's 1740-41, father was, if you know. I thought his parents were Roger 2 born 1700 and Mary ? I had your line on down. You see what I am trying to do is to find out all the lines from all the Isaacs till I find the right one. So far I have not eliminated this one Isaac b.1740-41 from Roger 2 b 1700. All of these Isaacs are a little confusing and there seems to be more cropping up all the time. I haven't been doing this very long on the computer, but my daughter who is a programmer encouraged me to get a computer and try. I love your wit. Mary Wolverton mlw@skynet.net

Hi Leonard, I have just checked my PAF database and found that Isaac WOLVERTON, with one "o"! I am not sure when the name spelling changed, but that is not important, according to a prof gen who spoke at a meeting I went to this spring. This Isaac I show as married to Lucretia VASTINE, and he died 1855 and is buried in Rush Pres Cem, Northumberland Co., PA. He was a brother of my Charles who m Mary DRAKE. It seems the whole family moved to PA at some point, altho Roger died in Hopewell, NJ. There is lots of info on the family in Northumberland Co., PA, by the way. Land recs, etc. Hope this helps. Kelly and others, Abt this information. I show our line as Capt. Francis DRAKE, who was a son of the immigrant, Robert, and b 1618 in England himself. The notorious Sir Francis DRAKE was too young to have been Capt. Francis' ancestor, prob a cousin. I have heard the Penn story bef, and have not found any confirmation of it, in fact, I have heard that it is NOT true. In fact, Charles WOOLVERTON, the immigrant, married Mary CHADWICK. Charles WOLVERTON who married Mary, the dau of Thomas DRAKE, was born abt 1741/2 in NJ. That story in FTM is all mixed up! I know I saw something about a Wolverton marrying a Boone. Was passing time and came across an interesting site referencing Quakers. It's at http://www.rootsweb.com/~quakers/heritage.htm There are names there to check. Go into Boone. You'll find Nancy Boone (b.1800-d.1873) m. Johnathan Wolverton (his 2nd marr. was to Elizabeth Boone (dau. of Judah Boone and Susanna Questro). Nancy was dau. of Hezekiah Boone (b.1764) and Hannah Hughes. Anyone with a Boone connection will want to check this out. Goes back to George Boone (b. abt 1597 or 1625 in England). Lots of information. Onoldah Rone oronem@juno.com

Ginny, I like the Pettit information. It's great you are putting it out there. It will tie into a line somewhere. You are right...my information shows that Dennis Woolverton, son of Charles Sr. married Elizabeth Pettit. Dennis was born 26 Jan 1709, Burlington Co., NJ and Thomas Woolverton married Mary Pettit. Seems I have seen something about a male Pettit and a female Woolverton being married, but can't find it right now..so I'd better not say I know it's true. Onoldah
Hi all, I recently did a search on AltaVista and came up with a match for Isaac Wolverton. It said there were records of War of 1812 Bounty Land Warrants and Pensions War of 1812 Military Bounty Land Warrents, 1815-1858. Does anyone have the record on this Isaac? If not, I will send for them. Also I have the line of Thomas Wolverton, son of Thomas 1717 and Mary Pettit. Let me know if anyone wants it. Mary mlw@skyenet.net

I haven't sent to get the records yet, and I wondered if any of you might already have sent for them? This might be Isaac Wolverton 1778, son of Stephen W. 1751 and Mersey Cox. Thanks, Mary L. Someone raised the question of whether Charles Woolverton married a descendant of Sir Francis Drake. Francis Drake had no children according to a biography. If there was any connection, it was not a direct one.
Hi Everyone, I just received a copy of the Pettit Family information from the ANNALS OF THE FORTY #7 LOYALIST AND PIONEER FAMILIES OF WEST LINCOLN 1783-1833 Published by The Grimsby Historical Society 1956. I will give you a quick run down of what is there and try to copy the whole thing within the next few days. "The history of the English colonies in America contains numberous references to the Pettit family, the two main branches of which descent from THOMAS and JOHN PETTIT, who came to America in 1630. They were sons of HENRI PETTIT, of Saffron Walden, Essex County, England, and came to America with the first Winthrop Fleet, which sailed from England in March, 1630. It has been stated that John Pettit, younger brother of Thomas, went to Stamford, Connecticut, where he lived and died, leaving five sons and two daughters. THOMAS PETTIT, born about 1610, married Christian, daughter of Oliver Mellows. They lived for a time in Boston, Mass., where he had been granted a house plot. (This continues on with several moves).....In 1655 Thomas, with his family, moved to Newtown, Long Island, where he died in 1668. Children of Thomas and Christian (Mellows) Pettit as recorded by historians:- Thomas, Hannah, Elizabeth, Sarah, John, Moses, Nathaniel, Joseph, Mary. NATHANIEL PETTIT, son of Thomas and Christian (Mellows) Pettit, was born in Exeter, N.H., in 1645 and came to Newtown with his parents. He married Mary, daughter of Elias Bayley and lived near Newton. When the Dutch captured New York and sent officers to administer the oath of allegiance, Nathaniel elected to stand by his Quaker faith, refusing to give the oath but he promised fealty to the Dutch. He was one of the free holders mentioned in the confirmatory patent known as the Dongan Charter granted 25 November, 1686, to the inhabitants and freeholders of Newtown, L.I. Some time between 1690 and 1696 Nathaniel purchased a lage tract of land in New Jersey, where he and his family went to live. This land was near the Falls of Delaware (now Trenton). An old map shows the location of Nathaniel's house and "Pettit's Run" a stream emptying into Assunpink Creek. The State house is now located on this land. Children of Nathaniel and Mary (Bayley) Pettit as recorded by historians: Moses, Judith, Nathaniel, Elias, Jane, Jonathan, Mary, John. Nathaniel, son of Nathaniel and Mary (Bayley) Pettit, was born about 1676 in Newtown, L.I., and went with his parents to New Jersey. In 1708 he married Elizabeth, daughter of Andrew Heath, a large land owner near the Falls of Delaware. He apparently did not adhere to the Quaker faith of his fathers, as he was connected with the parish of St. Andrew's Episcopal church, Lambertville, New Jersey. It is interesting to note that here is where the name, Andrew, first entered the Pettit family. Also that several children of Nathaniel and Elizabeth (Heath) Pettit form the branches of Loyalist families, who came to Canada. Children:- ABIGAIL, born about 1712 ELIZABETH, born 1714, d 1785, m. Dennis, son of Charles and Mary Woolverton. They resided in Kingwood, New Jersey. ANDREW, born about 1716, m. Dinah_________ JONATHAN, born 1721, married Deborah Robins. AMOS, b 1722, married Esther---surname unknown. NATHANIEL, b 17224, married Margaret McFarlane JOHN, b 1726, married the daughter of Richard Fisher ISAAC, b 1728. He was a Loyalist who came to Canada in 1787. CHARLES, b 1730, married Mary Smith" Do you want me to continue? I do have a question for the group...Mary Pettit married Thomas Wolverton abt 1738. I have her birth 1720 in ??. Who does she belong to? Could she be the Mary, above, daughter of Nathaniel and Mary Pettit? Also, isn't there a male Pettit that married a Wolverton woman? Who? Let me know if you want me to continue this...I'll be glad to send more if anyone wants it. HER Ginny X Core MARK vcore@trib.com Enjoy life to the fullest - It's not a rehearsal !
