Okay, now this is getting interesting! I have a WOLFF ancestor who served in the Brunswick Troops which came to help defend Montréal about the time of the Revolutionary War in the U.S. Would this have been when General WOLFE attacked Montréal? Or did WOLFE attack Montréal before the Rev. War? Anyway, my WOLFF ancestor, August Ludwig (a/k/a August-Louis-Georges, August-Louis, Louis-August and August in Québec) was discharged in 1782 and he stayed in Montréal and married Marie-Louise BISSON in 1783 in Montréal. It must have been in a Protestant Church, because it's not listed in any of the Catholic marriage indexes in the Province of Québec. According to some work about the Brunswick Troops, WOLFF was from Brunswick ("Braunschweig") which is in Lower Saxony. I descend from their daughter Olive WOLFF who married Prudent FORTIER in Louiseville, Québec. They were my gr-gr-gr grandparents. I believe Olive had other brothers and sisters, but I don't have their names.
