Then there is the ahnentafel chart of my son's father. #1 is "Ancestors of Edward Joseph Hebert" which has all my French-Canadian ancestors, plus two German lines (DOCKSTADER & WOLFF) which moved into Qu�bec. This is the largest of the 4 ahnentafel charts I have. #2 is "Ancestors of Lillian Gertrude Merkle." She was my paternal grandmother. She is 1/2 German and 1/2 Irish. I don't have a lot on the MERKLEs, nor the Irish part (still trying to dig up those roots), but there is a lot of information out of Friesenheim, B-W about the ancestors of her paternal grandmother Helena TASCHER. #3 is "Ancestors of Sharon Elizabeth Beatty." This is my mom. Her father's BEATTY family is out of Armstrong Co, Pennsylvania, there is a lot of Germans, plus on French line and 4 Irish lines. Then there are quite a few dead ends. On her mother's side there is English, Norwegian, and what looks like roots coming out of New England and Ohio. #4 is "Ancestors of Robert Stephen Smith." This is my son's father. His family has been in the South for a long time. His mother's grandfather was General Claire Lee CHENNAULT, the C.O. of the Flying Tigers. I am looking for information about August-Ludwig WOLFF who was from Braunschweig (Lower Saxony?). He served with the Brunswick Troops who were stationed in Quebec, Canada in the late 1700s. He was discharged in 1782 and stayed in Quebec, marrying Marie-Louise BISSON in Montreal at a Protestant Church. He was probably born in the 1750s, maybe the 1740s. Any help would be appreciated! HISTORY (p 441; article submitted by historian Lindsey Allen Wolfe) }} JACOB WOLFE . . . . Jacob Wolfe and Sons were men of a venturesome spirit and of a powerful physique, capable of enduring the hardships of frontier life, protecting themselves and family against the wild animals and Indians in the untamed virgin wilderness. When peace came, they laid aside the gun, picked up the ax and radiated into all areas of Preston County. The Wolfe's log cabin, from 1754 - 1763, located at Stony Creek settlement in Shenandoah Valley, Va., was used as a Fort, where the pioneers took shelter from the Indians. Late in 1770, Jacob (? - 1799) and Catherine (? - 1824) Wolfe and family emigrated to Deckers Creek, Monongalia County. Their children are as follows: George (1752-1827) married Nancy Barb (daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth (Caulfelt) Barb), lived near Cuzzart, Preston County. He was the first settler to build a commodious log house having the chimney in the center, and fought in the Revolution. Their children: Jacob (1782 - ?), known as "Left-handed Jake", married Rachel BRIGGS, had two sons who went to California as "Forty-Niners"; Daniel (1794-1873) married Anne House (1794-1864), fought in War of 1812; Christinia (1795-1880) married Jacob Guseman (1786-1878); Henry went West 1835; Anthony (1799 - 1843) married Mary Matlick (1804 - ?)
