Surnames: Wolf / Wolff Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4JXBAIB/1354 Message Board Post: I am looking for information on one Alfred or Dieter Wolf, who lived in southern Virginia in the 1960s. One of the two lived with his wife (Diane, I think) and children (Marla, Anthony and Alfred Jr.) in Southern Virginia. There are photos of the family in Hampton as well as in Lynchburg. He served in the US armed forces and did either his basic training or his AIT at Fort Knox, KY. He later served in Wildflecken, Germany in the 1950s. After his military service he graduated from the University of Maryland. His family originally comes from Sprottau (now Szprotawa) where they lived on Steinweg 6a. The father's name is Alois Wolf, the mother's name is Anni Wolf (deceased 1933). The father married again in 1935 at St. Peter & Paul church (not sure about location). Father was killed at the beginning of 1945 near Murmansk. Attached is an image of the father. There are two sons in the Wolf family. Dieter, whom I believe to be the older one, and Alfred, whom I believe to be the younger one. I am not sure which of the two the photographs follow, although I believe it is Alfred, the younger one, who joined the US armed forces and went on to live in Virginia. If anyone has any information about the family, please email me. I have found a large German-language photo album chronicling the family from 1933 until the mid-60s when the younger son, Alfred Junior, passed away at the age of 2. The album appears to have been kept by the mother as a lot of photos sent back from military service have references along the lines of "to mother" and one of the photos of Alois reads, "my beloved Alois".
