Mills, 82, formerly of Saltillo, Ohio, died at 7:14 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at Genesis Hospice, Zanesville. She was born Aug. 13, 1922, in Monday Creek Township, Perry County, to the late Herbert A. and Lucy E. Wolfe Shaffer. Mrs. Mills was a lifetime resident of the area; retired in 1973 after 20 years with Essex Wire of Lancaster; and was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, New Lexington. She is survived by six children, Florence (Jack) Filkins of Saltillo, Frances Gelzhiser of Pittsburgh, Pa., Donna Wolfe of Saltillo, Mona (Rick) Morgan of Roseville, Carolyn (Audry Jr.) Hinkle of Saltillo and John A. (Lois) Mills Jr. of New Lexington; 30 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Fauley of Bristol, Gladys (Robert) Householder of New Lexington and Alice (Jack) Gray of Lancaster; and a brother, Paul W. (Jodi) Shaffer Sr. of New Lexington. She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband, John A. Mills Sr., on Feb. 18, 1990; a daughter, Darlene Danielson; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a sister, Edna Burgess; and a brother, Herbert A. Shaffer Jr. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at the Roberts Funeral Home, 304 Mill St., New Lexington. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, at the funeral home with Pastor Justin VanOrman and the Rev. Arthur Potts officiating.
