    3. Hi grp, I have a BIG question.....does anyone on this list know of a Margaret Martha WOLF b: ca 1735 who md: John MOYER in Berks Co PA? prob 1750's a Moyer researcher has this on his website and I have written to find out about this Margaret, but he did not reply My ancestor John MOYER of Bethel Twp.Berks has a wife Margaret AKA Margaretta...I have looked for clues to her maiden name for years...Henry MOYER b: ca 1722 d: 1797( John's eldest bro) did marry a Anna WOLF...so its very possible Margaret could be her sis (?)...this Anna had no children evidently and in her 1799 Berks Will she names her neices and nephews of dec'd John MOYER, and her bro Christian WOLF/ WOLFE there was a Nicolas WOLF who died 1782 of Bethel Berks, PA. I don't know if he is related to Christian, Anna , and possibly Margaret if she is in fact a WOLF. If I have not totally confused everyone, maybe someone will have an answer?? Thanks, Shar

    2. I would most like to meet my gggf, John Wolf, who was married to Magdalena Clifton in Greene Co., TN in 1823. I would ask him who his parents were and where they came from--Maryland or Virginia. Also, an additional line of questioning would involve information on all the children that he and Magdalena had--we know of Iraneous and Katherine, but are rather certain there were at least two more. The other main question of John would be: did he remarry and to whom after Magdalena died around 1837. It would be interesting to learn whether or not he stayed in Indiana or moved somewhere else after 1837. Hoping to hear from you, John! Harve Wolfe HWLobo@aol.com

    3. I would love to have known my great grandfather, James Henry Wolfe (1862-1940) of West Berlin, Queens Co. N.S. and his wife Letitia B. Coops (1867-1938). I would like to know if my great grandfather James was an alcoholic. My grandfather was an alcoholic as is my father. I wonder how far back this goes in my Wolfe line. I also would liked to have been able to ask them what my grandfather, Archibald Wolfe (1896-1979) was like as a child. Grampie had quite a sense of humor and I suspect was probably one to get into everything. I know he was very close with his grandfather, James Peter Wolfe and sadly he passed away while my grandfather was serving overseas during WW1. Susan Gowen http://clix.to/susan

    1. Ellen Caroline Wolf Sanders Karney
    2. Sarah Stevens
    3. I would love to talk with my maternal g grandmother Ellen Caroline Wolf Sanders Karney. Ellen and her twin sister Nancy J. Wolf were b. Nov. 28, 1840 in Johnson Co., Ar. to parents Andrew Davis and Lucinda Wolf. The girls had an older brother named Tobias Washington Wolf and an older sister named Sarah Wolf. Their father was dead by 1845. I know that Ellen was in Tx. by age 4 from info given on her Civil War widow's pension application. I would love to ask her who she came to Tx. to live with; as I can not find her until she is grown and the widow of Jessee Alex Sanders with two, possibly three, small children. What happened to her mother after the death of her father? Did she possibly remarry and is listed under another surname? What was her mother, Lucinda's maiden name, and where was she born? Were her paternal grandparents named Phillip P. and Elizabeth Barnes Wolf? The young widow Ellen then married in Hopkins Co., Tx. to my g grandfather, an Irish immigrant named John David Karney who was a widower with three small children. The couple then had eight more children. Ellen made beautiful pieced quilts until her eyesight was gone in her later years. She was a lovely older woman in the one copy of an old portrait that I have of her. How wonderful it would be to spend a day just talking and listening to the many stories which she could tell!

    1. Samuel Wolf, b. Germany Lived in NYC 1892-1932
    2. Dear Samuel, If a time machine could transport me back to 1930, I have some things I would like to discuss with you. We have looked high and low for you in New York City, we can't find the ship you came on and where you were for most the years before you met Anna Fischer in the 1920s(?) and had your son together. Where were you? While cleaning out my mother-in-law's house, we found your butcher knives, did you bring them with you from Germany? Did your father teach you the trade? Did you teach your son the trade, but he chose a different profession, but kept your knives? We found some metal boxes with German writing on them, did you bring them from Germany or did Anna? We have been told you changed your name, so WHAT WAS IT? We were told you were Jewish and from Bavaria, so where were you born???? And who are your parents??? Were you ever married before? Why did you start to collect lead soldiers? Was this something that your father first started to collect? A news article about your son, mentioned he came from a military family, who were they? We do not know. Did you have any brothers or sisters? Did they come to America also? Your grand children, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren would love to know ! Forever brimming with unanswered questions, Judy Wolf, your granddaughter-in-law

    1. Christian Wolf
    2. John & Connie Benson
    3. I would most like to meet my great grandfather, Christian Wolf, so I could ask him if he was born in Mathildendorf, Bessarabia, Russia, and when. The only information I have on him is that he married my great grandmother, Anna Marie Finkbeiner on January 3, 1863, in Kloestitz, Bessarabia, Russia. To date I've been able to find that they had at least 10 children, 6 of whom died before the age of 5. They had a Rebekka Wolf who married a Christian Hintz in Tarutino, Bessarabia, Russia, and from what I can find out, these two stayed in Leipzig, Russia, having 8 children of their own. There was a son, Christian Wolf, born August 28, 1878, in Tarutino, Bessarabia, Russia. I have been unable to find out when he died or where. There was another daughter, Karolina Wolf who married Samuel Kautz and they immigrated to North Dakota living north of New Leipzig, ND. The 10th child was my grandfather, Johannes (John) Wolf, who came to the U.S. as a teenager to live with his sister and brother-in-law, Karolina and Samuel Kautz. I would love to ask many questions about how they arrived in Russia and where they lived before that and all about their occupations and their parents. There's only one of my grandfather's children that is alive and that's my mother who can no longer remember anything her father told her. If anyone has information on any of this family, I would be thankful. Connie Benson
