Max married Barbara Rapell in 1891 and had three daughters, Selma, Frieda and Helen. Max came from Saxony and arrived in the mid-1880's, I believe. He was born around 1857 - 1859. There are some records that call him Maxwell Richard Wolf.

Etherton, 81, of Springfield died Sunday, May 8, 2005, at VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville. He was born Nov. 9, 1923, in Springfield, the son of Reginald and Frances Wolf Etherton. He married Joyce E. Thetford in 1972. Mr. Etherton graduated from Brown's Business College with a degree in business management and accounting. He was an accountant at Allis-Chalmers until 1960 and retired from the Illinois Department of Revenue in 1985 after 25 years. He also worked for the IRS during tax season and was a volunteer for the VITA Program. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps for two years and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving for a year and a half in the Air Corps and three and a half years in the Army. He also served in the Marine Corps Reserve for six years and was called to active duty in August of 1950 and was a drill instructor in Parris Island, S.C., and Annapolis, Md. He retired from the Illinois National Guard in 1963 and had received many medals and ribbons. He was a member of Church of the Little Flower, the 3rd and 4th degree of Knights of Columbus, Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks 158 and Disabled Veterans 15. Survivors: wife, Joyce; daughter, Kaye Ellen Britten of Springfield; stepson, Michael James Thetford of Springfield; two grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; two brothers, Merle W. Long and Allan Francis Long, both of California; and several cousins. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Thursday, Church of the Little Flower, the Rev. Chuck Edwards officiating. Burial: Calvary Cemetery. Story has it that when John was young his father died and remarried and gave him up to be raised by his sister. He became bitter toward his father and never had anything to do with him again.     3. Alice Bradshaw NEWCOMERSTOWN- Alice C. Bradshaw, 88, a lifelong Newcomerstown resident, passed away Tuesday evening, May 3, 2005. Alice was born Dec. 11, 1916, in Tuscarawas County, a daughter of the late Charles and Catherine Welsch Wolfe. She was employed at Timken Roller Bearing in Canton, during World War II. Later she worked in the meat and produce department in the former Kroger's store in Newcomerstown. Alice belonged to Calvary United Methodist Church. With the church, she belonged to United Methodist Women and assisted with kitchen help during Vacation Bible School. Alice was active with Newcomerstown Senior Citizens and delivered food for Meals on Wheels program. She enjoyed gardening, playing Bingo, walking, reading, studying the Bible, and bowling. Alice was a member of the Gutter Dusters Thursday morning bowling league at Cy Young Lanes. Alice was preceded in death by husband, Glenn F. Bradshaw of Newcomerstown, who died Aug. 22, 1990, and whom she married Nov. 19, 1949. Also deceased are three sisters and five brothers, Ida Hill and Doris Frame of New Philadelphia, Hazel Gardner of Port Washington, Frank and Chester Wolfe of Uhrichsville, Charles Wolfe of Riverside, Calif., Kenneth Wolfe of Mineral City, and Alfred Wolfe of Canton. Alice is survived by a brother and his wife, Vernon and Millie Wolfe of Port Washington; a sister, Blanche Dolzine of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Betty Wolfe Herron of Dover; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2005, in the Ourant Funeral Home. The Rev. Chauncey Eggan will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia. Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 6, in the funeral home, and one hour prior the funeral Saturday. Memorials can be made to Calvary United Methodist Church, P. O.     3. I'm looking for the parents of Christian Wolf who married Anna Marie Finkbeiner on January 3, 1863, in Koestitz, Bessarabia, Russia. I have not been able to find his parents nor the birth and death date of Christian. I believe Anna Marie Finkbeiner was born on 19 April 1827 but do not know her parents either. They had 10 children: 1. Catharina Wolf born 24 Oct 1863; 2. Friederika Wolf b.12 Jan 1867 & died same day; 3. Dorothea Wolf b. 29 May 1867 & died the next month; 4. Rebekka Wolf b. 13 Oct 1869 & married Christian Hintz 30 Jan 1892; 5. Karolina Wolf b. 3 Dec 1871 & married Samuel Kautz. They immigrated to North Dakota; 6. Rosina Wolf b. 19 Mar 1874 & died 1878; 7. Jacob Wolf b. 15 June 1876 & died 1878; Christian Wolf b 28 Aug 1878 & unable to find his death date or whether he lived to have a family; 9. Magdalena Wolf b. 25 May 1882 & died the next day; 10. Johannes (John) Wolf b. 2 Dec 1883, immigrated to North Dakota and died 15 May 1979. I'm a granddaughter of John Wolf(f). I'm interested in obtaining information on any of these families and would be interested in sharing what information I have so far but seem to be stuck on Christian and Anna Marie Finkbeiner. My mother is the only living child of John Wolff and is in a nursing home with no memory of the background of her parents. My grandmother was Mathilda Heim Roehl. Connie Benson
