Can anyone help with finding the parents of David Watkins who married Ann Evans from Brecon in 1793. Their children were Richard, Margaret, John, Francis and Daniel.David and Ann were married in Ilston but I am now at a dead end.

Hi Lynda: Greetings from the Land o' the Maple Leaf! I have a branch of a Swansea WATKINS family which was compiled by the late Dave Thomas, was a member of the Glamorgan Rootsweb list. I have a link by marriage to the family. I have just had a look to see if any of the names you list are listed. Unfortunately they are not. Dave traced his branch back to 1792. He wrote: The St. Mary's vestry minute book shows that a property at Frog Street was being rented by one Watkins THOMAS in 1792, this was probably the grandfather of Thomas WATKINS who was still using the Welsh patronymic naming system. Thomas' father is recorded as being John THOMAS a publican. I can't make head nor tail of the patronymic naming system but just wonder if that is why you can't find your ancestor. Perhaps you should be looking for a DAVID or DAVIES/DAVIS surname?? I'm afraid I may be muddying the waters even more <grin>. Hope you find them. Good luck with your research. Am also researching Watkin(s) have drawn a blank with Alice who Married Nenjamin Reees in 1819. Is anyone else researching this line? Denise
