    1. [Swansea] St John's Registers Swansea
    2. Heather Smith
    3. Hello Tom Yes, I have now been informed that the St John's Swansea register's are in the process of being indexed. They are awaiting checking and should be released later this year which is good news. I am not sure though if they will help me as it is really the banns book I am after. My Anne Mainwaring married James Thomas in Llanarthney parish church Carmarthenshire on 19th June 1846. I have a copy of the marriage lines. Another Mainwaring researcher said that they were married in St John's Swansea on the same date? I think that James Thomas may have had the banns read in St John's if this was his parish church, but it is a bit strange don't you think? I need to check it out. Are you saying that St John's church has been pulled down and St Matthews has been built on the same site? Why did they change the name of the church any idea? Regards Heather Hi, Heather, The St John's registers are in the West Glamorgan R.O. in Swansea. I understood that the Glamfhs were producing them on microfiche.St Matthews is now on the same site near High St station. Regards, Tom
