Hi Folks, This is my first visit to your list. First may I apologies for being verbose, but there is no simple way of explaining my problem. I am seeking EVAN OWEN PRICE I know that he married SARAH JANE SAVAGE born 1880 (calculated from 1881 Census) in Clarbeston, Pembroke , Wales. They had to my knowledge only one son - REGINALD SAVAGE PRICE born 24/3/1907 in Teglum, Robeston Wathen, Pembroke. Reginald's birth certificate, providing the above details. A search of the 1881 Census found only one EVAN PRICE aged 6, who was living in ST James St, Narberth, with his grandmother - MARY HARRIES and Great Grandfather - THOMAS MORGAN On the assumption that this was my Evan, I commissioned a PRO search for his birth certificate (I live on a tiny dot in the Mediterranean, and cannot do my own searches), but to no avail. Either his stated age (at census) is way out or he was not born in Narberth or Pembroke come to that. I have no knowledge as to the whereabouts of EVAN'S mother or father at the time of the 1881 census! They were not in Pembroke as far as I can ascertain! It has been suggested to me that they may have strayed into Swansea? Hence I am seeking any help you may be able to offer Regards from Gozo Les Buckle

This is the only sure way to ensure they were indeed married and confirm the name of Evan's father. The rest should be plain sailing (probably not !) You need to ascertain Evan's date of birth. Without this you could spend ages chasing someone who may have been younger than his wife and did not therefore appear on the 1881 census. Cheers Peter
