Can anyone please give me information on a place called Old Oven. It is given as an address on a Baptism entry for 1814 at Uzmaston. Any info would be appreciated. Jenny Dempster, Australia
Hello Jenny As I have the "digest" I can see you already have had several replies to this question. However I thought I would add the 1841 census entry for Old Oven in case the family from 1814 are still there. Incidentally in 1841 the previous dwelling is the gasworks - although looking at the map the gasworks is some way away. 1841 census: enum dist 31 Folio 7 page 7 Old Oven Thomas Jenkins 50 Ag Lab N Mary " 50 Y Mary " 3 Y Thomas " 6 Y James " 20 Blacksmith Y William " 18 Jane " 15 Y Ann " 8 Y I hope this helps. If you are happy to receive attachments I can send you a copy of an oldmap of the area showing Old Oven. I have already captured maps of the area of Haverfordwest and surroundings from the old-maps site so It would be easy for me to pass a copy on to you.
