Hello List I have the following information for my GG grandfather but am at a loss of finding anything further back and am wondering if anyone else is researching this family. In a book that was written some years ago here in New Zealand it states that Daniel Evans was from Liansilo. As I am not up on Welsh names of towns and counties I am not sure whether this is the correct spelling or not. Daniel Evans from Liansilo (Llandisillio??), Pembrokeshire, Wales married Hannah John December 11, 1860 in Church of England, Begelly, Pembrokeshre, Wales. He and is wife came to New Zealand circa 1880's. Him and his wife are both burried in Dipton Southland New Zealand. Have photos of grave site as well as other family members buried there. These are also on http://www.interment.net/data/nz/southland/dipton/dip.htm If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. I do not have an index of the 1841 census covering Llandeilo East (the bit in CMN) And could this be Hannah's family?: HO107/2475, Begelly, folio 751, page 31, schedule 123 Anne John, 17, born Begelly Elizabeth John, 21, born Begelly Hanah John, 11, born Begelly Martha John, 55, born Begelly Rachail John, 19, born Begelly Thomas John, 56, born Begelly Thomas John, 10, born Begelly In the 1841 index Hannah's age is given as 2, and Thomas's occupation is coal miner. Hello Karen, Gerry & all I looked up the Evans family in 1841 that Gerry found in 1851. It looks as if William's first wife was Esther and by 1851 he was married to Mary. So it looks as if Daniel's mother was Esther. 1841 census Llandissilio: Maengwynne William Evan 30 Y Esther Evan 25 N Mary Evan 9 Y Morris Evan 7 Y Daniel Evan 5 Y Caleb Evan 2 Y Anne Evan 3 mth Y Note: On 19 June 1830 William Evan married Esther Hall in Llandissilio Cheers Pat In message <BE04A4D8.9F53%gerry@asterisk.co.uk>, Gerry <gerry@asterisk.co.uk> writes >on 7/1/05 4:28 am, Tony & Karen Moore at tokari@xtra.co.nz wrote: > >> Hello List >> >> I have the following information for my GG grandfather but am at a loss of >> finding anything further back and am wondering if anyone else is researching >> this family.
