Hello listers, I am a new & inexperienced lister looking for very early family connections in Pembrokeshire, specifically around the Robeston Wathen area. I received a leaflet from the ancient church there which mentions my family (WATHEN). (I have until now been researching my family in Gloucestershire, where they were prominent in the wool weaving industry.) The leaflet indicates the family moved from West Wales to Glos.at the time of Queen Elizabeth 1 because of their connection to the wool trade. Is there anyone out there who can tell me how to locate any of those early Welsh ancestors please? Or alternatively someonewho knows the name & how I can contact the person who wrote the leaflet for the church? I don't know where to begin looking. The last known ancestor I have uncovered is Jonathan Wathen who died in Glos. in 1630. I have not yet discovered his date & place of birth. Maybe he is "the missing link" & was the one who left Wales. IGI has given me some early Wathen names from the late 1500s. How does one make connections? I would be grateful for any help.
