    1. Re: [WLS-PEM] Census lookup-Stephen Davies
    2. Hi Jim and Gerry There is no entry on the Dyfed FHS Index of Baptisms 1838-1900 for a Stephen Davies 1860-1 in Tenby. There is just the one on the IGI 12 October 1856 Stephen Sabo Davies parents Stephen Sabo Davies/Martha the baptism of the father could be 22 April 1832 Stephen Sabo Davies parents John Davies/Esther Marriage for the latter parents 26 Jan 1830 John Davies, Mason = Esther Thomas, Servant Both made their marks All three events are at St. Mary's Tenby. Of course there could be a Stephen Davies bapt in a Nonconformist chapel in 1860-1 and for this you will need to check the GRO record of Births as few Nonconformist registers survive. This 1881 Census entry could be the Stephen Sabor Davies bapt in 1856 although the John Davies ought to be his grandfather as from his occupation he would appear to be the one who married in 1830 although he would have only been 16 and if he was an apprenticed Mason he would not have been allowe to marry until after he completed his apprenticeship aged about 21. Perhaps he was lying in 1881 to keep in employment. I haven't checked him in the 1851 or 1841 Censuses until we hear that we are on the right track.
