One oddity that I have found with the Ancestry and the 1901 Census is that the transcribers are foxed by Welsh double character letters. John Thomas Jones, John Lloyd Jones and John Philip Jones are often recorded as John Th. John Ll. and John Ph. Which have been transcribed as the surname prefixes Le, St, De and even Mc, so if you can't find a person who might have a second name its worth looking for John LeJones, Edward DeOwen, William StDavies or Mary McThomas.
