Pat, Yes tried the GRO index (and the years you suggested too). It is an unusual name, I can't find it in the 1901 census either. The source is from a family member who is not sure of the name or any details, I thought the info about the "Poor house" might have been my best lead. I have just found the excellent info on them on Genuki and will try the Pembs Record Office next visit. Hello Colin When you say you have tried the Family Records centre - does that mean you have already looked at the GRO index of births (sometimes called St Catherine's Index)? That is the source from which you would have the best chance of finding a lead. Even if the name differs from Bernawiles it sounds as if it would still be a fairly unusual name - so if you looked at all the B births for a period such as 1915 - 1920 - you should find it . That is unless the date of birth you are assuming is wrong - can you tell us the source of the date of birth? Or any other clues?
