    3. Dear Listers I have just joined this list, in the hope of finding anyone else who is researching the GOODRIDGE family name. My husband's Grandmother was Sarah Ann Goodridge and her father was Grosvenor William Munroe Goodridge(born 23 Jan 1851) who we think married Sarah Jane James. We believe that Grosvenor's father was George Goodridge born abt Feb 1825 in Lambston, Pembroke. George we think married Eleanor ?. George had siblings John born abt Jan 1803 Llangwm, Pembroke, David born abt 1815 Lambston, Pembroke, Frances born abt Dec 1824 Lambston, Pembroke, and Martha born abt 1832 St Martin, Haverfordwest, Pembroke. We also think that the generation before George and his siblings was Anne, Thomas (their father) , John, Stephen, Dorothy, William and David all born in Narberth, Pembroke. Does anyone connect with this family, as we would love to find out more. Many thanks Jan in NZ

    3. Dear Jan, You don't need to find someone else researching a family to obtain help from this List, though I hope Kevin was able to give you lots of information. (When the Cricket is showing on Aussie t.v., sorry, you wait a day or two). The following may help you find out more. You give George Goodridge's birth as around 1825 and that his suspected father's name was Thomas. A Thomas "Goodrich" married Elizabeth Lloyd at Cosheston on 28th. December, 1817...the minister may have erred when writing the surname. You could purchase the parish register entry from Haverfordwest Records Office to see how and if Thomas signed the register. A John Goodrich married at Llanstadwell in 1817 and a David Goodridge married Sarah Davies at Rosemarket on 22/07/1815...the next Goodridge marriage listed in the index is for 1828....not for a Thomas. What makes you think the family members were born in Narberth? The name does not appear in the pre-1813 marriage records for this Hundred, but, rather, in Rhos Hundred. Also you give a 32 years gap between the births of Thomas's siblings...Does this mean his father had two marriages, otherwise the wife would be having children from age 15 to about 45, realistically? John was said to be born Llangwm 1803...and the only Llangwm marriage listed for his possible parents is for a John Goodridge in 1787 to Sarah Phillips. John Goodridge may have married Jane Herbert at St. Mary's H/west on 12/05/1828 or Anne Emment at Rosemarket on 29/03/1834, or be the JG who was a mariner and married Elizabeth Davies at Tenby on 01/11/1835. David born about 1815 might possibly be the David Goodridge who married Mary John of Prendergast at Rudbaxton on 15/07/1834. For the previous generation....Stephen Goodridge married Hester Jones at Haverfordwest St. Martin in 1808 and William Goodrich married Elizabeth Gwinne at Rosemarket in 1810. There is no marriage listed for a Dorothy pre-1813, but a Mary and a Sarah married at Llangwm in the early 1800's. There appear to be only two Goodridge Wills pre-1858 for Richard of Monkton in 1613 and William of Cosheston in 1612. Haverfordwest Records Office could look at the St. David's Probate index sheets for the name for you, to ascertain if there are any Bonds, Grants or Inventories held at The National Library, but if you wish you could order copies of the abstracts for these two wills from the Records Office from dates I have supplied here.
