    3. Dear Bettye and others I have the full will of William Palmer, Malster of Carew who died in 1780. Although the abstract lists Hannah Palmer as granddaughter it does not say this anywhere in the will - this has been presumed by whoever did the abstract. I have had it transcribed, if anyone would like this, let me know. I haven't seen the article you mention, but have worked back to this family through my Hier/Reed line. Susannah Harts, daughter of William Parcell was executrix and after her day his personal effects were to go to Hannah Palmer. Hannah claimed these in 1794 (NLW Ref: SD/1794/25) after Susannah's death as Hannah Hodge. From the Carew parish registers (originals at Haverfordwest RO) I have found the following - Allen Palmer of the parish of Carew, farmer married Hannah Parcell, spinster, by licence 21st April 1767, both signed, in the presence of Francis Palmer and John Eynon. Baptisms to Allen and Hannah Palmer are as follows - George baptised 22 Sep 1768, Mary baptised 25 Nov 1770, William baptised 19 Jul 1772, Rees baptised 30 May 1773, Patty baptised 1 Dec 1774, Elizabeth baptised 3 Nov 1776, Francis baptised 1 Jan 1779 and Susannah baptised 18 Nov 1779 all at Carew. Allen Palmer was interred at Carew 19th September 1779. He died inestate, but I have a copy of the 'grant' (still not sure of terminology) to his widow Hannah Palmer. The inventory of his goods names him as Allen Palmer of Park in the parish of Carew. Witnessed by John Skone and Wm Parcell. On 17 January 1781 Hannah Palmer, widow married Thomas Reed, bachelor, by licence at Carew. Hannah Palmer signed and a member of staff of the RO agreed that the signature was the same as that of Hannah Parcell on the first marriage. Their daughter Margaret Reed baptised 11 Apr 1784 at Carew was my ancestor and the wife of Allen Hier. Hannah Reed is listed on Land Tax records in both 1786 and 1787 as the tenant of both Landigwynet and Park in the parish of Carew. Hannah went on to marry a third time to John Hodges at St Issells on 25 October 1789 (witnesses George Palmer (her son?) and David Child) and was buried at Carew on 19 March 1821 aged 75. I still haven't figured out whether Hannah is a granddaughter or daughter of William Parcell the maltster, but have had a lot of fun and learnt so much trying to find out. She has been my most interesting ancestor to date!
